I have a 2006 Lowe 160 Stinger Aluminum boat. I am up grading from PD 40# to PD V2 55# which has a heavier lower unit ...Problem is this unit mounts closer to the front edge of my boat and after 6 years of use there is a split in the aluminum edge/seam of my boat. After I have this fixed I plan to install the new motor. Is there any advise to prevent further damage to the bow of my boat? I do check periodically for loose fasteners.

Hey 217,
Get a sheet of 3/16" aluminum plate that is at least twice as wide as your trolling motor mount and at least 12" longer than the mount. Secure the plate to the current deck.. align the front edge flush.
You might want to radius the edges of the plate and secure it with rounded head sheet metal screws.. This will make the mount much stronger and last!!

SOURCE: I have a Minn Kota Endura 30, transom mount.

There is kind of a collar on the lower side of the head where the head connects to the shaft. There is a single bolt that runs right thru the shaft at this location, remove it. Rotate the head 180 degrees and re-install the bolt. 5 minute job.

That type of information is never published. There are generic boat wiring diagrams and a link to Lowe boats, so you could ask them direct.

Lowrance Elite-5X. Why doesn't it indicate speed?

The model Elite 5x from Lowrance is a bit out dated, I currently have one on my boat, That model would require GPS signal to be able to read MPH unfortunately it does not. Not sure if they made a GPS puck for that model. That wire lead set can and probably is being used on a few different models that support that function. Hope that helps.. BTW I have had mine since 2013 and still works great. There is a GPS speedometer available through LOWE boats with 4 INCH bezel. I am a LOWE boat dealer, General Manager at Beacon Marine in Junction City KS.

How to find the fuse box on a 2008 lowe stinger 195 boat

Depending on the item in question, trolling motor, for example, there is a fused/breaker directly running off positive side of battery. Looks like a pill box or match box. Several people have had their trolling motors quit working and this is usually the culprit. Much of the fusing runs directly of hot wire from batter to item in question. However, I will paste a URL here for you. http://www.marine-electrical.com/resourcelibrary/wiringdiagrams2.aspx

Great white trolling motor, bow mount,24 volt, 82lb thrust / big problems! Burned up Marinco plug, replaced plug, recetacle, fuses on. batteries, tech says motor runs fine on bench, but not on boat. Getting 24...

The heat is developed from to much resistance from batteries to TM, check for loose/corroded connections at batteries, including the jumperwire, also check the size of wire from battery to plug, should be at least 8 gauge if not 6 gauge depending on the length of run. If corrosion has built up inside the wires this will also cause high resistance causing excessive heat build up. I would prolly just replace boat wiring to make sure none of the above problems are present. Use tinned copper marine grade wire that is multi stranded.

Replacing a starter in a sebring 2006

All of the nuts and bolts are metric on it. It helps to use a 13mm swivel socket on the starter bolts but you can use a wrench if you need to. Also, a 7/8 open end wrench for the 02 sensor, or an 02 sensor socket.

Let me give you the steps for the starter and also the front engine mount bracket. You don't have to remove the entire mount, just the bracket

REMOVAL

  1. Open Hood.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Raise vehicle and support.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the 02 sensor.

  • Remove the 02 sensor from the exhaust manifold .
  • Remove the front mount through bolt.
  • Remove the front mount bracket from engine block.
