After installtion win xp in my compaq c500 i didnt get the sound

It sounds to me like you requre Win'XP Service Pack 3.
If you are using Service Pack 2 or earlier, there is no
SATA support which is why the HDD is not recognized.

Get Service Pack 3 and your problems will be solved.

you can download the drivers for your notebook from the website www.driverpool.com you have select your notebook model you will also have the option of selecting the os too(windows XP).

IF u not having ur drivers for win xp service pack 2
u have no option beside taking help of internet u have two options
1. go to google web site and write the following statement " driver for your system model name with no.
like compaq Presario for xp2 "
u will get drivers
2. u go on www.freedrivers.com and follow the same as in step1.
u jst include statement driver for audio or sound or display or bluetooth etc.

You will probably have to reinstall windows 2000. The problem is a corrupted file. Before you reinstall try rebooting pressing f8 at starting screen and then scroll to boot with last known good configuration. If this doesnt work then reinstall w2k with service pack 4 or upgrade to win xp service pack 3
