Hi
Compressed air is not a good idea for as couple of reasons:

1. Sometimes there is moisture in the can that will be blasted onto the board
2. It can cause dust to get wedged tighter in the fan and sink area

The only real soloution is to strip the laptop and do a manual clean, this is quite simple on the advents, as all you need to do is remove the large cover on the laptop base to access the heatsink and grilles, you can dust out ( hoover) the fan area and the cooling vents, if this proves to be difficult, obtain some thermal paste, remove the screws retaining the heatsink and lift out the fan and sink assy,
Clean and replace after regreasing the cpu top with thermal grease. Make sure fan connector is attached then.
Tighten the screws in sequence, replace plastic cover

My wife has an Advent 7084 laptop pc. Within the last few days the fan has started to switch itself on/off regularly when in use. I presume the laptop is overheating due to the fan being full of dust ? I...

i don't think there's anything wrong there...all laptop fans switch themselves on and off depending on the situation. the fans are normally off but when the temperature rises they turn on to cool off the laptops.

Hi, Wife has an Advent 4211 Netbook / Laptop with a noisey Fan. Wondering how easy to remove cover and clean / replace fan. Cheers Dave.

Hi, before removing and replacing, have you tried to clean it with an air can, if the fan works most of the time this helps and you will not need to take anything apart, just pick up one at your local electronic store, follow the instruction on the can and spray the air ways starting with the openning under your fan, start SLOW and gradually increase the air flow and be careful not to let the air pressure break the fan fins by sudden changes in the air flow... Hope that Helps

Panasonic toughbook cf-48 two batteries went bad within a day

Place battery in freezer for 2 hours / remove and recharge, might make it last longer. (Removes any "memory" in them)

Might be worth checking the charger to ensure its working OK. Just becuase the light is on doesn't always mean its working.

Advent 6651 will not power up

If it is brand new, then you have warranty, I suggest you return it to the supplier to get it fixed, because if you do something to it you might void your warranty.
