Vulcan-Hart VC4ED convection oven. Why does one side get hotter than the other?

When I bake more than 3 trays of cupcakes, one side will get burnt while the other side has hardly baked at all. If I use more than 2 racks the bottom racks will take twice as long to bake. I thought a convection oven baked evenly

SOURCE: Double oven / convection not working

It is likely that the convection element is burned out and needs to be replaced. If all other functions are working then this is the place to start. Teh back panel inside of the oven can be removed by removing the 4 visible philips screws on it. The element should look smooth and round, if not then it needs to be replaced. Be sure to turn power off to the oven before replacing it. Remove the screws that fasten the element to the back wall and gently pull the element away from the wall an inch or so. the wires will be exposed and can be unclipped from the element do not let them fall inside of the back of the oven or you will have to remove the oven from the wall to get at the back panel. Install the new element in the reverse procedure. If the element looks good then it will have to be tested with a multimeter to verify that it is still good before proceeding to check the selector switch for burn marks.

SOURCE: Amana Convection oven not controlling temp

I have just checked the baking guide in the manual and have found that it may not be us after all. (Maybe this is why they telll us to read the whole manual. Well, I never have) According to the cooking time for Baking, the range is very extensive. For example, an angel cake at 350 could take from 28-50 minutes, buscuits at 375-400 could take 8-16 minutes, layer cakes at 350-375 could take 25-40 minutes, pound cakes at 325-350 could take 45-70 minutes and fresh pies at 400-450 could take 35-60 minutes. Basically, the baking directions on the box means absolutely nothing to use Amana oven owners. We have no choice but to cook our food or baked goods until they are cooked, whenever that may be. :) Linda

SOURCE: f9 error code while using the convection baking function

This is a lock switch error code. Check wiring to door lock switch (the wire harness may be connected wrong). Check for stuck lock switch. If the switch cannot be re adjusted, it must be replaced.

Bake element does not work during convection cooking

Hello and welcome to Fixya.

I hadn't seen your post prior to today, so perhaps you've had a remedy presented to you already.

If you have not, reply to this post and I can recommend a few test to perform that will determine the issue with your oven.

Off the top it sounds like a possible faulty convection heating element or the K3 relay on the board is defective.

I'll watch for your reply.

Thank's,

macmarkus :)

Looks like our church just received the Vulcan VC4ED convection oven - 208 volts 60 amp. We have the 60 amp breaker but what gauge wire from the breaker to the oven do you recommend? I have to run about 35...

use 3 -- 6 gauge copper wires, you could get by with 2--6 gauge wires for the two hot phases and 1--8 gauge for the neutral connection, but with that long a run use all 6 gauge so you don't experience any voltage drop, also in your community you may need to check the local codes on grounding and need to add a separate grounding wire, which you can use an 8 gauge for this wire connection, if you use aluminum wire(which I highly DO NOT reccomend) you will need to get one gauge larger as in 3--4 gauge aluminum to carry the same current as copper wire

We have gas operated vulcans that are not baking evenly. And browning is very uneven

They need to have the thermostat calibrated. Go to Vulacans web and locate the calibration proceedure service manual.

Never used Convection JTP 5650DI55

Did you try going to the GE website? If not, try it:

http://www.geappliances.com/

When you pull up the website, you can click on the blue down arrow located in the box at the top of the web page, next to the work SEARCH and click on "USE & CARE MANUALS. Put your model number into the next box to the right and hit GO.

If you are having trouble after entering what you believe is the proper model/serial number, you can look at the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section to determine whether you have actually entered the proper number.
