Yinkay2k3 you are the master. I did not try pressing the channel buttons on the set before. The green light that was on that I mentioned before was not the power light but rather the standby light. So it was stuck in standby.
After reading your suggestion, I turned the tv on with the remote. I heard the tv start up, the green standby light came on, but there was no picture or sound. So, I pushed the up and down channel buttons on the tv a couple of times. Nothing changed. So I turned the tv off by pushing the power off button on the tv. I then turned the tv on by pushing the power button on the remote. After that the tv miraculously came on as normal: with picture and sound.
I guess your little trick with the channel buttons was enough to wake my tv up. Thank you so very much for helping me with this problem.Yinkay2k3 you are the master. No. Your problem is with the Power Supply . You'll need to get a technician to replace it for you. But get a quote first, because it could be so expensive that it's not worth spending the money on a repair.
hello spins,
If your problem just pinstripe on top of screen , but picture ok (normal in picture), try it to enter the factory mode. In standby position press info-menu-mute-power. Enter to deflection adjustment- choose - vamp (VA) or v shift (VS). Change value data by pressing + (or right cursor) and - (or left cursor) to shift or increasse amp. If it work, your tv will normal.
But its nor working, you should call samsung technician.
Good luck.
not sure about this model but it sounds like the backlight has gone out. You can call samsung at 1-800-samsung and they may be able to help or give you the # of the nearest service center.
Sounds like a bad inverter. Does the screen still show that the power is on? If so, then shine a bright light at it. If you can still see the image, then you have your answer. -=/ Daft Tech /=-
The HDMI version in your receiver is 1.1 or 1.2 which will not pass video as it should. It's not Onkyo's firmware at issue, it's HDMI and in all receivers up to 2008 model year this is a very heated problem! The only fix is to run FIOS directly to the TV via HDMI and run it's audio to your receiver with Digital Coaxial or Optical. Hope this helps
This might be a proble with athe green electron gun having a short between the cathode and the grid. This problem require the use of a device called a picture tube rejuvenator. to test and if need be clear the short.
