Tones and vibrate is located at the profile. there are option if you wish to turn on your ******** simultaneously with call ring or message. just go to settings and set your prefer option.

Go into settings go to notification go down to messaging and then go down to email look to see that notification is turn on in messaging and then go to email & c F notification is on in email
plz check your sound setting.for that instructions are: 1. go to your phone's "setting". 2. enter into "sound". 3. "ok" or "click" on "vibrate". 4.and if you want ringtone at received time than go to "phone ringtone" below vibrate option.

Go into you text setting on your phone and select the option that you wish to have for you alert for receiving text messages, or consult your manual that you got with the cell phone on how to set the text alert message signaling.

I use an HTC Touch. Hopefully the menu should be the same in Touch HD as per the Touch. Try this..
Start -> Settings -> in the Personal tab, click Notifications -> u might see 2 tabs -> select Notifications tab again -> select an Event (here it is incoming SMS) -> below you'll see the Vibrate option -> tick on it to enable it -> Select OK to save.

No, your phone is not defective, you need to change your settings.
In your menu, go to SETTINGS, then PROFILES. Scroll to the profile you are using then select EDIT. Under each profile you have the option to select how your phone handles any alert you receive (i.e. for calls, messages, texts, etc.) You have several options some of which are silent, silent and vibrate, vibrate only.
Personally I want my phone to vibrate when it's on silent so that I know I'm receiving a call or text. You can choose another option though.
to the vibrate issue do you have email set up?
and in regards to the texting, when you get more than one text it should give you an option that says go to messages and it will take to the message list.
