Could you please advise on how i can stop my dictionary changing from AUST english to US english. It seems that nothing i try to do stops it from changing back. Thank you.
Try this:
Rename these keys: Start > Run > type regedit > press <Enter> > Navigate to the following key and right-click and rename it to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0old
Reboot, Open Office app/Word?, and Office will recreate it, hopefully resolving that issue.
Hi orthoww,
To change the default dictionary in Office 2007:
Click on start - All Programs, then on Microsoft Office, then on Microsoft Office Tools, then on Microsoft Office 2007 Language Settings.
A window will pop up, and in that window, make sure that "Primary Editing Language" (bottom option) is set to AUST english.
Then click OK.
Then open up your program, and your default dictionary should be set to the language you wanted.
You may need to change the default language in Windows Itself. Try the following: (taken from Microsoft article found HERE)
Set the default input language in Windows VistaClick Start, and then click Control Panel.
Under Clock, Language, and Region, click Change keyboards or other input methods.
Note In Classic view, double-click Regional and Language Options, and then click the Keyboards and Languages tab.On the Keyboards and Languages tab, click Change keyboards. This displays the Text Services and Input Languages dialog box.
Under Default input language, click the language you want to use as the default language, and then go to Step 10.
If the language you want to use as the default input language is not listed, do Steps 5 through 9.
Note The default language you click is applied to all programs on your computer that use this setting, including programs from other companies.Under Installed services, click Add.
Expand the language that you want to use as the default input language, and then expand Keyboard.
Select the check box for the keyboard or Input Method Editor (IME) (IME: A program that enters East Asian text (Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, or Korean) into programs by converting keystrokes into complex East Asian characters. The IME is treated as an alternate type of keyboard layout.) you want to use, and then click OK. The language is added to the Default input language list.
Under Default input language, click the language you want to use as the default language.
To close the Text Services and Input Languages dialog box, click OK.
Turn on the language-specific options for the default language in Microsoft Office by doing the following:
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office 2007 Language Settings. This displays the Microsoft Office Language Settings 2007 dialog box.
Click the Editing Languages tab.
In the Primary editing language list, click the primary language in which you plan to work.
Notes If the language you want is not in the Primary editing language list, click the language from the Available editing languages list and add it to the Enabled editing languages list, and then click it in the Primary editing language list.

also, in my first post, go into the same area
(Click on start - All Programs, then on Microsoft Office, then on Microsoft Office Tools, then on Microsoft Office 2007 Language Settings.)
And add your language you want in the "Enable Editing Languages" box, and then click on the English US language and click remove. Now click OK, and see if that works

Thank you for your help. I have done what you have suggested but it does not seem to help as the language just reverts back to US english again......!!!!!!
All of a sudden when taping a program and then playing it back it is in Spanish. I have gone into both menus on my TV and VCR and reverted back to English, but this does not help or work.
