Will a 12 volt slide battery work in my 9.6 volt Black & Decker Firestorm drill. The 9.6 volt batteries don't seem to be made any more. I don't think I paid a lot more for the original drill & battery new than a replacement battery costs now. If the 12 volt battery will burn up the drill, I might as well throw away the old drill and get a new one. Thanks, Earl

This close to father's day you should be able to buy a new drill for about the same as a battery. The 12v would overheat the motor if you ran it for an extended period.

it is probably the brushes on the motors are wore out or stuck and not making contact. pretty much junk unless you feel confident enough to attempt repair.

How do I know if my battery is bad or if my charger is bad? The red light on my charger no longer lights up when I plug it in. This is for my Black & Decker Firestorm 12volt drill. Thanks

With a multimeter set it to 12 volt dc and place the leads on the two parts that would be touching the battery. If you see voltage then it is a bad battery.

George, firestorm bats. I believe are for the drills ? There is usually a 2 year warranty on B&D products, either take it back to the store where you purchased or contact Black & Decker : blackanddecker.com
