HI, This is not a big problem, even operating from remote
controller is better. It makes long lasting to your hardware. But you should
repair the volume button. There is the problem of circuit or the button. Change
the button with a new compatible button. You can purchase button from nearest
JBL service centre or JBL accessories shop. If it doesn't solve your problem then
you have to repair the circuit.
Hello,
fault is from the button of the unit. There is every tendency that the button is not contacting the panel inside the unit, that is why it is not responding.
You need to disassemble the unit to find out.
Get a screw driver that can fit into the unit, unscrew all screws. Use a flat screw drive to pry the unit from the side in order to take the cover/case apart.
Locate the volume part, turn on the unit and press the volume button directly on the panel. If the volume works, it means there was not contact that why the volume didn't work.
But it the volume still doesn't work, then problem is from the control board.
Perform the above task and let me know the out come.
I hope you understand the message I am trying to pass across. And I hope it makes sense to you.
Regards.

Cant seem to find any screw holes for disassembly of the unit. Only a "reset?" button hole but no screw holes. Any ideas?
OK. I got it apart but the button you mentioned cannot be "pushed". There is a screw (which is tight) and a red and white wire leading from that to a small harness that is plugged in to a circuit board. The volume up and down buttons, when new, responded to delicate touch (warmth of the finger I believe).
