Can you hear anything. iTunes, other sounds? Have you tried different people. There are 2 things I thought of for this problem. 1, the other person is the same person all the time and they have muted their microphone. 2, you cannot hear anything on your system which could be mute, or a driver problem or a problem that can sometimes occur with the headphone jack port. For #1, have the other person try to record something or go to System Preferences and select sound, and make sure the microphone shows gain when they talk, and make sure the microphone is turned up (see picture for this one.) #2 You can try to unmute in the same system preferences, you can also check to make sure your sound system is working in the same preferences. If it is a headphone jack issue, I would plug in and out head phones into the jack until you can hear something (make sure you can hear through the headphones before this, if the headphones give no sound then don't do this.) Other than those items it would have to be a call apple issue. I can here the recipiant - jp_2010_0.jpg

What do i need to use the fax function on my canon pixma Mx490

If you want to speak to the recipient before sending a fax, or if the recipient does not have a fax machine that can receive faxes automatically, send a fax manually after speaking to the recipient on the telephone to check whether the recipient can receive faxes.
  1. Make sure that the machine is turned on.
  2. Press the FAX button. The Fax standby screen is displayed.
  3. Load the documents in the ADF
  4. Adjust the scan contrast and resolution as necessary.
  5. Lift the handset of the telephone connected to the machine.
  6. Use the telephone to dial the recipient's fax/telephone number.
  7. Speak to the recipient.
When you hear a high-pitched signal instead of the recipient's voice, you cannot check whether the recipient can receive faxes. If you want to stop sending the fax, replace the handset. If you want to send the fax, go to step 9.
  8. Ask the recipient to set the recipient's fax machine to receive faxes.
  9. When you hear a high-pitched signal, press the Color button or the Black button.
Press the Color button for color transmission, or the Black button for black & white transmission.
  10. Hang up the handset

How to video call on nokia70

Hi Richard,
First verify from your service provider that video call is supported.

Here is how to video call...

1 To start a video call, enter the phone number in the standby mode, or select Contacts and a contact.

2 Select Options > Call > Video call.

Starting a video call may take a while. Waiting for image is shown. If the call is not successful (for example, video calls are not supported by the network, or the receiving device is not compatible) you are asked if you want to try a normal call or end a message instead. The video call is active when you see two video images, and hear the sound through the loudspeaker. The call recipient may deny video sending ( ), in which case you hear the sound and may see a still image or a grey background graphic.

I hope that helps.

Regards,
Jeep Brainy

No sound is heard with calls on Skype, I get video, and i hear sounds made by the program, but no sound from the recipient of the caller. I get sound when I video chat Mac to Mac, but not Mac to Windows,...

Ok, by the sound of it both yourself and whoever you're calling have not set up Skype quite right.
On your end, you need to:
  • Make sure you have a working microphone - try using Skype's built in 'Echo' feature (try calling 'echo123')
  • In Skype -> Preferences -> Audio, make sure that microphone is selected.
On their end, make sure they've done the same - they must have a working microphone, correctly setup with Skype in order to send you sound.
Hope that helped!
