Run the computer only on the battery, until it is exhausted.
Fully recharge it.
Run the computer only on the battery, until it is exhausted.
Fully recharge it.

These "deep-cycles" may give the battery-life a "kick". Maybe.

Check the web-site of the manufacturer of the computer.
Maybe, there is a "known" problem with that particular model of battery.

Do a Google-search for the part-number of the battery, to see if anybody has posted comments about poor battery-life for that part-number.

If running only on batteries is "important" to you, then consider replacing the battery.

My 18 month toshiba satellite lap top battery is not taking a charge.

I had a similar problem with a Toshiba laptop. Problem was an issue with the bios being out of date. Go to the Toshiba website, download the bios for your model and install per Toshiba's instruction. That should fix the problem.

My battery gets empty quickly............Why??

Please go to control panel, and then check power options. If high performance is selected then please switch to balanced or power saver to get better battery life.
Also running power hungry games or programs drains the battery far quickly than just surfing the internet so consider gaming only when your laptop is connected to the socket.
If however after all this you still seem to have a very short battery life (less than 2hours) then consider checking your battery for wear. Signs of wearing include taking a very long time to charge and often not achieving a 100 percent charged status. If so then think about replacing the battery to either the same or a bigger 9-cell battery.

Sir am using acer 4736 model. past 2 weeks it has some problem wit battery life..though i charge it 100% backup is very less nd also in the battery icon it says 'consider replacing ur battery'.could u plz...

Maybe the life of the battery is almost exhausted. If the battery is charged everytime the laptop is used it will gradually decay in life and energy storage. They are best emptied and then recharged at least once a month. That will help to keep the life of the battery extended as long as possible.

My laptop shows red cross sign in battery and says consider replacing a battery!!what to do does it have any solution and battery life has decreased to 50 min. from 2 and half hour,i bought it just a year...

Hi there,

If the message says consider replacing the battery, I guess the battery life is about to end.

Its good to replace the battery if you have used to laptop for more that 3 years now. Normally that is the max battery life.

However, if the laptop is new and still under warranty, you need to contact your vendor for possible free replacement, since it is abnormal for the battery to wear in such a short time.

Also make sure the replacement battery is perfectly compatible to your laptop. Your vendor can guide you more.

I have replaced batteries in the past. Remove it from the laptop and get the number off of it. Then you can go and Google the number to find a reasonably priced replacement.

Hope this helps you.

If the laptop is still under warranty, then I suggest you return your laptop to the supplier for a replacement battery.

I bot a hp mini laptop recently.. ws working well..bt sddnly it ws nt chrgng ystrday and showed cross sign over battery in control panel.. why is it nt chrgn and wht to do?

If the laptop is still working when it is plugged in , then the ac adapter is good and the battery is just bad. If the laptop will not work when it is plugged in then more than likely the ac adapter is bad.

WHILE CHARGING THE LAPTOP IT IS NOT GETTING CHARGED . as well as service centers in mumbai

That is the usual sign that your battery needs replacement. If the battery is over about 18 months old or you either use it a lot and to a low charge state or leave it on the charger most of the time then it has most likely reached its service life.

Can't help you with a source for a new one there.

Battery - blinknig range light

The orange blinking led indicates battery charge critically low, which could mean the battery is failing. The batteries are considered a consumable item and carry a 1 year warranty. Average life, depends mostly on usage. 300 to 500 discharge/recharge cycles is about average that translates to about 18 months use or so.

Flashing yellow light when charging

Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser and see if this clears up the problem. If not, your batteries may be needing replaced. When batteries get old or are shorting out this is common. Rechargeable 2-way radio batteries have the following life expectancies. NiCd 18-24 months; NiMH 14-18 months; and Li-Ion 12-14 months.
