I used to run Mathcad 14 on Windows 7. It ran just fine for more than a year and suddenly stopped working. The Windows 7 cursor would show the program starts but after a few seconds the cursor would quietly disappear and that's all. I tried uninstalling and installing the program, tried compatibility tricks running the program in XP mode SP2. Nothing helped.

SOURCE: Mathcad 13 installs but won't run on Windows 7.

Run it in the compatibility mode. Right-click on the executable, choose "properties", then the "Compatibility" tab. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for". Choose the latest version of Windows the program ran on, check the screen setting that applies for your application and click "OK". Now you can start the application!

According to their website, it will run under a 64-bit Windows 7 system as long as the program is started in 32-bit mode.

ok on topic, sure they all ran fine before, all did. 14 years ago....
and even old ones after you push the F11 recovery key run fine
all did, before being slammed.

so you took out the battery , very good that is the first thing to do
on all lap tops, you do know they can short out ,right
so leave it out, see the PC runs like new. (sans big battery)
now buy a battery if mobile uses are paramount, or if not , not.

next time post how the PC runs with no battery.
(all you said was makes it stop) Im not clear on that at all.
details, pretend the helper is blind, (we are, with only text)

seem to me it's time for a new main battery. $15
my guess is this PC is 14 years old 2003 model (or 2004)
and the CMOS COIN cell battery will fail next. (or is now!)
most COIN CB never last 14 years, much less 7 (3-5y is par)

the next failure will be. the screen. has CCFL screen back lamps
that go dim ,turn yellow then fail or blink or other odd effects all BAD.

frankly im suprised the PC does anything right at all.
what OS is there windows XP?

long long ago it was reviewed here.

This may work, download JRT - free soft ware.Google it and get the link. If Junkware Removal Tool perceives it as unwanted junk it will remove it. A system restore might do it if you can go back far enough.Another freeby, Unlocker may do it.

My guess is that the engineers at PTC haven't figured out how make their products compatible with Windows 7! I painfully found that MathCad 14, 13, 11 do not work on Windows 7 (I have Windows 7 Pro)! They install, but the application can't even start! However, MathCad 2000 does work on this outstanding platform; I was amazed! You could use that version in the meantime, hoping that PTC will solve this problem soon! Or install Mathcad 14 on the virtual PC that works in XP mode.
