I have a Viewsonic PJ558D projector. I replaced the light bulb recently and have not been able to use the projector since. When I turn on the projector, the fan turns on, the bulb lights up, then everything shuts down after a few seconds.

You need to reset the lamp timer. This is likely your problem since you changed the lamp.
Turn the projector on. open the menu. Go to advanced. Scroll down to the first option which should be auto source. Make sure this option is checked. While on this option press right once, left twice, right 3 times, then left 4 times. Another menu will appear. Scroll to lamp time and push enter. This will take it back to zero.

It sounds like the cooling air path is being blocked somewhere, the cooling fan is not operating properly or the air filter is already clogged with dust. Remove the air filter and visually inspect it. Bang it on a flat surface with the outside surface facing down. If only a small amount of loose dust falls off, then you have additional cooling problems as I mentioned above and you should return it for warranty repairs or exchange. Operate the projector without the filter and see if the problem returns. If not, and the filter looks ok physically I would insist on an exchange or warranty repair.

Our ViewSonic PJ558 is emitting yellow light. The whole display is in yellow already. Please help.

If the yellow is perfectly uniform across the whole screen, then a processor problem may be present.
If the lamp is very old then this could be a problem.
Otherwise an optical part has deteriated due to overheating

I turn on my Viewsonic PJD6251 but the lamp does not come on, and after a few seconds I get 2 red lights TEMP and LAMP. It is new, only 2 weeks I barely used. Good care.

sounds like a bad bulb

projectors get a resistance reading from the bulb and if it doesnt get right value it will give you the double red lights

only other thing it could be is if the fans in projector are not turning on

call viewsonic and tell them issue and make them resolve issue

or

if unit is only 2 weeks old bring it back to store and get replacement or call viewsonic and get them to send you replacement unit - it is too new to mess with it yourself and take chance on voiding warranty

Are LED conversions coming for the older Projectors? I have a Viewsonic pj5558D. I need a new bulb, but would love to see if an LED version exists...

Not for a while yet. You'll need to use the "standard" lamp. Do not forget to reset the lamp timer when you change the lamp.

Viewsonic PJ550 lamp

Problem 1) The projector should put out a burst of 7000-15000 volts to start the lamp, and then immediately drop down to 60-100 vlts to keep the lamp lit. It sounds like the bulb blowing took out your ballast, or the ballast going out took the bulb (uncontrolled current = overheated bulb = boom)

Problem 2) Thats not a problem at all. HID lighting uses an arc to create light, just like welding creates light. Since it uses an arc, and not the heating of metal, there is no filament to test the resistance of. All the bulb is, is a special mixture of gasses and two very durable electrodes, with a gap in between.
