My model Microwave KOT-1515 about 8 years old was not heating. I pressed the power pad and all that shows is a little dash on the screen. I cannot reset the power, and the micro won't work at all. What should I do?

Without knowing the make and model of microwave oven you are asking about I can only give general instructions. You can add the make and model of microwave by choosing Comment and adding the information there.

Generally, after placing whatever you want to heat or cook in a microwave save dish or on a microwave safe plate and place the food and dish inside the microwave and closing the door, you follow these steps:
- Using the key pad / number pad, press in the time you want the microwave to run
- Assuming there is a POWER button on the key pad, press that button
- Most likely a P will display
- On the keypad, press 50 (for 50 %) or maybe just 5
- Press START

Do you mean the Daewoo KOT-170SB microwave oven, instead?

The manual for the KOT-170SB microwave I found online (PDF format):

shows a "data plate" on an interior wall of the microwave (page 7.)
That may be where the serial number (S/N) for the microwave is printed.

If not, there may be a label or tag at the back of the microwave oven where the serial number (S/N) is printed. Or, there may a label on the back of the microwave oven, look on the bottom.

As per the owner's manual:

The oven operation can be locked to prevent the microwave from accidentally being turned on. All oven functions can be locked.

To Set: Touch and hold the CANCEL/OFF Pad for three seconds. The Display shows “LOCKED” and the oven beeps.

To Cancel: Touch and hold the CANCEL/OFF Pad for three seconds. “LOCKED” disappears from the Display and the oven beeps.

If this does not work, then try a hard reset: Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If it still fails, you probably have a problem with the controller.

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

You may need to replace the magnetron or the high voltage diode.

have a good look at front to see reset??.press it once it comes back on unplug from the wall and & open it up and go to the part and give it a good clean with wd40, check the push pad for ware & tare dirt gathers and builds up

how old is the machine, microwave ovens have a tendancy to do the ridiculous for no possible reason. a check of the main power fuse within the unit might help. it is a large fuse 10A> that supplies the transformers

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. There are some high voltage circuits that feed the magnetron and you can potentially get hurt if you don't know what you are doing. Would recommend you have it serviced by a professional if you want it fixed, otherwise look for a new one since the cost of repair can come close to the price of a new microwave oven.

Is it dead, meaning no display, no light when you open the door and no beeps when you press a pad on the keypad
