Why does my refrigerator keep acting up the freezer gets frosted up then the frig gets warm I have cleaned it underneath unplugged it for 24 hours then plugged it back in it works great for about a w

This problem can have many causes, but generally it is a defrost issue. If the freezer coils are frozen over, they block cold air flow to the refrigerator; and can be caused by different part failures. See the link below for a good explanation of possible failures and for parts. Also, if you turn the refrigerator temp to 0ff and unplug the refrigerator then plug it back in, it should go into defrost mode. Leave it that way for 15 or 20 minutes, then unplug and plug it back in. It may resolve the defrost mode problem. If not you'll need a part, or repair man. Kenmore model 596 72913200 freezer works but fridge not getting cold

This will be an air flow problem from the damper failing. Usually what happens is, the air vent is not allowing air to pass at the damper due to the motor not opening and allowing the cold air to pass into the refrigerator side. A good way to check it is, to feel the amount of air coming out of the vent between the freezer and the refrigerator. If the air flow seems slow, or no air at all, replace the damper to restore air flow to the refrigerator. Here is the part you need to order.

The part comes with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.

Freezer working, but fridge is not. when you turn it off then back on its kicking on but fridge is not getting cold.

Hi,

Check the air return on the bottom left wall of the refrigerator side. Check for cold air flow at the top of the refrigerator when the compressor is running. If you feel no air flow, open the freezer door and see if you detect significantly more air flow after opening the freezer door. This could indicate a return air flow restriction and make sure that there no blocking of air vent at the top of refrigerator section that supplies the cold air from the freezer.Check the door seal gasket on the refrigerator for leaks.

If there is still same problem then you need to replace evaporator fan.

Hope this helps.

FREEZER FREEZERS BUT THE REFIGERATOR WONT GET COLD

If the vents and air flow paths in the refrigerator are proper, then check the back wall of the freezer for excessive frost. A defrost system problem could be preventing the refrigerator from cooling properly. If you do see excessive frost on the evaporator in the freezer, you may be able to restore proper cooling in the refrigerator by storing your food in an ice chest and then shutting off the refrigerator/freezer and letting the unit completely defrost for about 24 hours. Leave the doors open for air circulation. After the frost on the evaporator has defrosted, plug the unit back in and see if the refrigerator and freezer will cool properly.
If there is still same problem then you need to replace evaporator fan.

Hope this helps.

Refrigerator not cold/Freezer cold.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp .

.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

The fridge is not working although the freezer is fine. the fridge temp is showing 24 and i cant change it

Feel with your hand for the spot where you feel the cold air entering into the refrigerator compartment.
Look for something near the area that says more/less cold. Sounds like the air flow is stuck open allowing too much air from the freezer compartment entering into the refrigerator compartment. A refrigerator works off the basics of recieving cold air from the freezer compartment.

Kitchenaid refrigerator w/bottom freezer french doors

please check the air flow to the refrigerator side. it could be a stuck damper motor or damper thermostat. if the fan inside the freezer is running, you should be able to feel cold air coming out off the vents in the refrigerator side. you might have to press the button light switch on the panels to run the fan.
