Whenever i connect my Zune (model 1091) to my laptop (Windows Vista) the Zune player connects to the PC but after my many trails i was not able to transfer any data from or to my Zune player. Nor i am able to change the device name, nor it shows the list of stuffs already present in the Zune player. Neither i am able to change the sync relationship...it shows 'you have no music on your Zune'..... Please help.

You can go to device options and tell the software to just let you choose what to sync, it should not auto delete anything after that...

If you sync manually you should have no problems.

I don't understand Microsoft's motive for auto-deletion on this program... but whatever...

Mp3 format is OK - I would reformat the player inside of Windows Media Player and try again.

I had the same problem... To fix it, I deleted all the videos on my zune. Then, from my computer, I drag and dropped them back onto the zune one at a time. It worked.

Easy:

Use Windows Media Player. It should see your Zune and you should be able to sync it that way. If not, then try hitting your "My Computer" button on your desktop or your shortcut menu. You should see your Zune on that window once your computer sees it. Then open your "My Music" folder in a separate window, drag and drop the music you want in your Zune, and you should be good to go!
