I have windows xp the cd that came with dlink dir 300 want work on my computer so how can i install dlink?

Portforward.com has a great reference for most routers including yours. Verify what you did matches the instructions on this site.

If you still cannot connect, verify GameRanger is allowed through your firewall. If you are using the Windows Firewall, temporarily disable it and see if you can now connect and host a game.

Typically the manufacture of the router you have will have the downloads on their website. Check out this site I have for you.

you don't need to install a router on a PC. The wireless card or ethernet cable should talk to the router.

You do not need to install anyhting to your computer Hook the router up and connect it to your computer and open a web browser and type in 192.168.0.1 for username: admin and password is blank. This is going to let you modify the router settings.
