Call 800-531-0004 to order a speaker for your 1660. For the XTR-690 its best to return it for service under warranty.

Whistler xtr 690 voice need to be fix

If your unit is under 3 years old, contact Whistler at [email protected] for info on how to have warranty service performed. If its over 3 years old then you can call them at 800-531-0004 to order a speaker. This assumes that you tried a factory reset and that the auto quiet and City modes are off which basically leaves only the speaker as the possible problem.

I have a whistler XTR 550 that no longer makes a sound. i tried changing the settings to no avail.

Is the volume turned all the way up? (Sorry had to ask). If so and the unit does not make a sound during the self test then the speaker may be bad. If you had it less than a year then it should be covered under warranty. For more info contact whistler at [email protected] or 800-531-0004

Does not sound alarm till its to late

The lower end Whistler radar detector models do not have particularly good performance against all radar gun frequencies. Whistler's XTR-690, Pro78 and XTR-695 on the other hand do perform very well against all police radar guns. Its basically a matter of you get what you pay for.

New speaker

if you have an old cordless phone like a uniden or cell phone you can take the speaker out and attach it to your radar detector it works just fine in mine,no problems. you might have to remove the speaker housing if it has one. Justy be real careful not to puncture the speaker as i almost did.
