What does error 73 mean? the display keeps giving that error... i have a brother mfc490cw

This is a mechanical problem of some description. Open the scanner cover and remove any foreign objects and paper scraps from inside the machine. Then, disconnect the machine from the power for several minutes and reconnect it. This should clear the error, but if it does not repeat the procedure making absolutely certain there is nothing in the printer obstructing the paper path.

The error code 73 means that you have a paper jam or a paper sensor problem.

If its not a paper jam you will need to call brother customer service as it may need a sensor part.

dear Sure there is, but it's supposed to connect via a LAN switch. Since it worked at your old place, did you miss a step? Was the printer plugged into a router and the computer also plugged into the same router?

Solution:
· Machine off
· Switch on the machine while holding down the “menu”button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in “maintenance” mode.
· Press 80
· Press the “mono start” button several times until you see “purge: xxxx”
· Press “2783” in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: “purge:0000”
· Press the "stop" button.
· Press “99” to exit the maintenance mode.

for the document you want to print click on print and your printer should show up now just click on the printer and look down where it says use printer offline and click on it again and than it will say use printer online and just print from there ok please dont forget to rate this solution for me

Open the small cover that hides the scanner flat cable. It has to be reconnected to the main pcb.
