Asking to 'downgrade' to XP, I would assume you have something newer (Vista or 7 comes to mind).
In this case there is no way to 'downgrade' to XP. Sorry for the bad news but it seems you have to either deal with what you have or do a clean install. Which is not a bad idea at any rate.

Keep in mind any data you have on the drive you format will be *wiped clean*.
Be sure to backup any data (pictures, documents, videos, etc.) before losing it all.
