That beeping signals a failure to communicate between the disk and the motherboard of the pc - the disk is defective. You have a slim chance of recovering what's on it by removing the actual disk from the external case and plugging it in the a desktop.

Hi,

From the information provided, it appears to be a direct hardware failure. Verbatim appears to not offer much on providing information on such issues, so it would be safe to say is have it replaced.. I am not 100% sure but some external drives come with a 7 year warranty, you could also try to have your data recovered from a local computer service in your area so you do not lose the data. But, in all it would be advised to replace it.

hi there,

While the Hard drive is connected to one of the USB ports on your computer.

On your keyboard press and hold the power button and press the letter R.

When the Run box comes up type in devmgmt.msc

Expand the Universal Serial Bus cotnrollers
right click on every root hub and choose uninstall
after that restart the computer

Hope this helps!

Computer does not read Verbatim #47562 at all. Does not show up even on disc management.

And does it make any sort of clicking sound when connected to the computer?
Either the drive itself is faulty, or the enclosure transforming the drive's interface to USB is not working.
You could always try taking the drive out of the enclosure and connecting it directly to your computer's hard drive interface, but be very careful not to damage anything.

My verbatim model 47562 connects via usb and powers up, but nothing is detected by the computer at all and it does not show up. Need help urgently to recover all data please.

First of all try to:
- use a different usb cable to connect it
- connect it to a different computer
- connect it to a different USB port (preferably one in the back of the PC, not in the front plate)

If still isn't working, could be the electronics of the verbatim HDD case, you can try to open it, take out the hard drive and connect it directly to a desktop pc via SATA inteface. This can be tricky, so let me know if you need further assistance in doing that. You may need an adapter, depending on the HDD interface your desktop pc has
.
If unfortunately your drive is making mechanical repetitive clicking sounds it could be broken. If the data is very important to you, you can rely on companies like this:
http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.com/
to have it recovered, be warned though that the price will be expensive (about 1500$) so see if it's worth it.
Best regards

Hp computer will start, all the lights come on but the screen is black.. also.. it makes this loud beeping noise 4 times?? whats wrong?

The beep is more than likely a beep code (sounds stupid and obvious, but they're there for a reason).

What make/model is your machine? We can look up the code by make/model. That will diagnose your problem.
