You should be able to unscrew it using just your hands. WD-40 on the threads wouldn't hurt to use either. If it is really stuck you could try a strap wrench. Good luck
On the Sears Parts Direct, they show no air filter. I would recommend taking the filter to a small engine shop so they can match it up or just go to Home Depot and match it up with one of their filters they may have in the lawn and garden. Lowes has a small engine section too, most of their stuff is Briggs and Tecumseh. Here is your parts diagram, with no air filter shown.
Go to www.searspartsdirect.com. Put your model number in of your edger. It will show you a parts list , which will include your blade. Hope that helps. Good day.
The needle valve is sticking open. The carb needs cleaning and diaphragm replaced. Probably best taken to a shop unless you have experience with diaphragm carburetors. Dwain
