You can't change the resolution on the television itself. You change the resolution on whatever you have connected to the television. Let's say it's a cable box or a blu ray player you've got connected to the television. First off you have to connect it to the television with a component (green, blue, red, white, red) cable or an hdmi cable. Then you make sure it is only connected to the television with either a component cable or an hdmi cable. This may sound ridiculous but there are some people that have their cable boxes and blu ray players connected to their televisions three different ways ( an hdmi cable, a composite cable, and a component cable) when they only need to have it connected one way.
Select the proper input on the television. Set the cable box or blu ray player's resolution to 1080i or 1080p (in the case of the blu ray player if it the tv will allow it).

Bravia kdl40v3000 hd chanels have only sound but not picture. What could be the reason?

First if HD via component or HDMI the hookup or more likely the box if used is your issue---some sets will require a firmware update for certain boxes to work--I am guessing but guess you may be using HDMI.

No solution found on your site. My 62" Toshiba DLP makes an extremely loud chopping noise when on HD channels using a satelite service. (Happened on Dish and Suddenlink) No sound except for the chopping....

Have you contacted your satelite provider? Have you any other HD sources to try, A Playstation 3, a blue-ray disc player or even using the TV's terrestrial HD tuning system can tell you if its the TV or the Satelite.

52G786 ATSC Tuner no longer works

I have the same exact model tv...Love it...ATSC tuners is in definition an Analog tuner. As the broadcasting companies change over to Digital broadcasting before the deadline in Febuary 2009 more and more local or Non-Digital chanels are becoming obsolete. You would have to purchase a converter box for your tv if your not planning on getting cable. Another way to gois if you have an old cable line running through you house (no incomming cable) plug you tv into that jack. That also acts as a antenna. The sweet part of all this is that your tv do have a QAM tuner or Digital tuner built in just need that digital antenna to pair it up.

HD cable question

It sounds like you dont have the right HD box. When connecting HD you will use an HDMI cable or a component cable consisting of 5 cable total 3 for video two for audio. Coax cable is not used to connect HD to your TV / Monitor.

Problem w60 inch using hdtv cable box

i know this problem, happened to me with the comcast Motorola HD receiver box. The key is with the setting in the cable box. Switch on the TV. Set the channel to normal tuner channel 3 or HD input. Turn off the cable HD box. Press the Menu Button on the Cable box or the remote. You should see a Menu. Use the cursor keys to navigate The default setup is also one of the option, Right click on your cursor keys acts like the computer keyboard enter key and applies the change. The default setup is 16:9, the shacking would happen if you have set the picture type to "PAN SCAN". change it to either 16:9 or 4:3 Letter Box. The shacking should stop. Hope it helps.
