What kind of files do I want to download so that I can burn them onto a memorex DVD-R 16x 4.7gb 120min? I want to play them on my DVD player

If you're trying to watch videos etc then the absolute easiest format to work with is ISO

It's basically an "image" of the original dvd. I usually use a program called Imgburn when I'm using Windows or Toast if you've got a mac.

Just make sure the ISO you download is 4.7gbs and below or else it won't work.

You can also convert any video to work with the blank dvds but you'll have to convert them using another program, for this I usually use Nero. It takes forever though so try to stick to the iso's ;)

Hope this info helps!

Unable to burn movie to DVD/CD

You can't burn a DVD movie using a COMBO drive or Compact disc rewriter, change your movie format from DVD to VCD and then try again, I recommend you use nero to make/edit movie and ImgBurn to make ISO image and burn it onto disc.

I can not copy pictures to a memorex 16x/4.7gb/120 min dvd using my dell phillips dvd+rw dvd8801 device. The message I get is "windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this folder" My desktop is a...

As from your question I can say that you are only using windows default copying service. First of all you must try copying the data using some third party softwares such as Ashampoo or Nero. You can try to burn a CD/DVD image with it or simply try to write data using these softwares. Dell has been suspected of having this problem in few cases, so DVD RW drive might also be faulty. Also, there is this microsoft page which can be useful: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316529

I was also suffering this problem with Nero 6. To solve your Problem first make sure that the windows you are using that supports your Software if supports, then your Optical Drive may not Write in high speed 16x or 18x, write your files in DVD in little bit slow speed, after doing all this if it gives same problem then Please reinstall your windows you are using.
