I just reinstalled XP Home Edition, on my W3050 (emachines), also upgraded to SP3, after upgrading it's memory also to 2GB's, and now, in device manager; the Multimedia Audio, PCI Simple Communications Controller, Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller, and, Video Controller (VGA Compatible), now have yellow exclamation marks as if there's was something wrong with them. Tried reinstalling the drivers with no luck. Please help!!!

Since you got the device manager open, why not double or rightclick on the lines with the yellow triangles marking them and get the details? It's possible that they're either the wrong drivers or that Windows wants to warn you they're not signed by E-Machines or Microsoft, but there are other possibilities. See also...support forums. Oh, and WinXP Home is pretty well deprecated; you might want to install a current OS (Ubuntu, Fedora 15 (that's a CD .iso around 550MB there), WattOS 3, Windows 7 lite, etc.) and pick a window manager like LXDE, fxce, etc, rather than gnome. Not that I think KDE4 is slow, but it might **** up your 2GB before you're ready just caching fonts (just like Win7.)

BTW just 2 GB, not 2 GB's; unless you say 17 Gal's tank, 82 dollars's worth of gas, etc. If it's not a contraction (I'd, it's, they'd, mam'selle, 'gat'r, ain't;) it's possessive. (Which I just learned has four 's'es in it. So there's a single-quote exception I used for a single letter where I could also have just used s as its own plural. So it was worth saying for me, right?)

I do have a key with foam surrounding it so it doesn't get pressed, but it's the 'sleep' key. Sometimes the 'wake' key is still in testing.... The 'caffeinate' button is on another box for no good reason, etc.

You have to use the original manufacturer Installation CD.
Among other things it contains all the needed drivers for your computer.
As a tip, when you have the yellow exclamation mark on the device manager, and also you "know" you have the right drivers loaded, rigth click on that device, and chose Uninstall.
At next reboot, Windows will detect and reinstall the device, usually with the right driver, solving your problem

Good luck

How to reload windows 7 on hp pavillion a810n

First, here are Microsoft's recommended minimum system requirements:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/products/system-requirements

You will need to have upgraded your memory from the system you had delivered first of all, to either at least 1GB (for 32-bit Win 7) or 2GB (for 64-bit Win 7). In either case, 2GB would be better.

Take your Windows 7 disks (CDs or DVDs) and reinstall it. Possibly you will have an 'upgrade' version of Windows 7. (Your computer was originally shipped with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Microsoft Service Pack 2. If you use your recovery CDs or the Recovery partition on your hard disk, this OS will be the one you get)

Can you upgrade to 4 gigs of memory even though it says 2gigs on the eMachines EL1200-05w

@stuart252

I don't recommend upgrading the computer's RAM because this computer only supports up to 2Gb at max, if you upgrade it to 4Gigs (2pcs 2Gb), the machine may not boot up at all.

Cheers

Hi regarding my Archos 10 netbook with Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor, Intel 950 GMA integrated 945GSE chipset and 1GB DDR2 apparently it is possible to upgrade to 2GB with this chipset in most cases....

Actually that limit was only in XP Starter Edition. Since you have Home you're in the clear. BTW it's better to add 2 new identical sticks, this way you won't get instability with the dual channel memory active and 2 different memory sticks.

Memory Issue

yeah you should upgrade. Windows xp 32bit only support up to 3gb memory. You should upgrade to 64bit.
And your specs? Yeah it can run 64 bit operating systems or if you like, use Windows Vista x86 or x64 with Service Pack 1.

OS Matter

Nope.

Without the disk you cannot upgrade to Windows XP Pro, because both Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional are two different edition / version.

So if you want to upgrade your current operating system from Windows XP Home then you have to spend money to buy Windows XP Pro

But if you want to upgrade the Service Pack then you can very well do it.

Click the link below to download Windows XP SP3 for your edition and install it. Before installing it make sure you have turned off your security programs or better install it from the SafeMode
