The film advance lever is stuck on my Minolta Hi-Matic C. I bought this at a thrift store today to see if it worked. The film advance lever worked fine for a while and then got stuck. Put a new battery in it. But lever is still stuck. If it helps: film counter is at 36 (the number is in red) and the rewind release button on the bottom is pressed in and won't come out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you rewound the film? If you rewind the file completely and pull out the rewind know, it will pop the back open . . . and can remove the film cassette. While the back is still open, complete the cycle on the winding crank. The winding crank should return to "Normal" arter you complete the winding cycle. When you close the back, everything should go back to normal.

SOURCE: Minolta X370 film loading problem.

First make sure your batteries are OK , camera will not work without two 1.5 v batteries. If your camera still doesnt work this is probably  because the shutter is cocked but you cannot release the shutter and that is why you cannot advance the transport mechanism. The shutter release mechanism needs repairing first. SREMEDY : take bottom cover off ( 4 screws ) and locate 220 mf 6v capacitor ( it is the only one in this part of the camera , cant miss it ). Replace the capacitor while you keep an eye on the polarity ( indicated on the casing of the capacitor ) and you camera should work fine ( dont forget camera needs  two 1.5v  batteries to work ! )

SOURCE: rewinding on a minolta 7000

This seems to be a much simpler question than assumed by the answer above. Did the first answerer have much more information? The simple answer is: Push down the small "R" button on the back of the camera beneath the display and slide the gray knob next to it to the left. This assumes no problem with the film transport mechanism. Stan

SOURCE: Film Advance lever stuck

When you press on the shutter release does it "click"? A few hard taps with the end of your finger onto the shutter reelase button may unjam it if it is stuck...

SOURCE: The film advance lever is stuck on my minolta

Here are the most likely:
A. Lever will not move on some models if the shutter is already cocked. If the shutter is cocked, and will not release with new batteries INSERTED CORRECTLY, then the most likely is this...
Two capacitors in these Minoltas die over time. If you are handy at such things, you can buy the caps, remove top and bottom covers, remove the dead caps and solder in the new ones. Don't Panic.
You can find instructions on the web for this well known issue, and you can also opt to send it to a camera repair place. Garrys camera repair in Niles, ILL does it for about $58 incl return shipping. He will also clean, lube and adjust it for ya. Something they all need eventually.

Film-advance level not working

Nice little rangefinder, but it's 30 years old. If you can wind the advance and the film is not moving you have a big problem. They are really not repairable, you can find them pretty cheap, but remember they are 30 years old.

Minolta 700 film advance lever was working, then it wouldnt wind, now it is stuck.

Use or buy a brand new battery from store that sell lot of them.

Do not get from store that only has a few, meaning they have been sitting there for years.

Film advance lever wont move

Do you have a film in the camera? If so is it all exposed? Best thing to do is press the film rewind button and try the lever at the same time - this will eliminate stuck film issues as it removes film tension from the system. If this does not solve the issue then you need someone to have a closer look.

Film advance lever stuck. Changed batteries but can not move the film advance lever.

Hi fmerlin, If you have film in it you may need to remove the film to free up the advance lever. Go into a closet cover under a blanket etc. Also, Walmart and most drug stores have a big change bag that they could do it for you. With film out it still will not advance it will need to go to Nikon.

Film advance lever goes back and forth putting no tension or movement inside the camera to advance the film. Was working fine, then after taking my last shot, lever is just sort of loose., couldnt load new...

first make sure the rewind button is not stuck down. open the back door and rotate the advance sprocket back and forth to release the button. if that did not work take the bottom cover off and check the white plastic gear near the take up shaft. if that gear broke it will have to be repaired by a camera repair person.
there are no new parts for this model so get a cost estimate first.

35 mm, Minolta X700

Is the re-wind button stuck in? If so it can be released by moving the take-up sprocket manually. If that did not work there is a broken take up gear. This was a common problem with the X700, a white plastic gear was used at the bottom of the take up spool mechanism that just was not strong enough especially when trying to get just one more shot from the roll of film. No new parts are available.
