Print jobs no longer arrive on printer

The printer is on, the printserver is on. They are connected with the USB cable. The cable and printer are fine because I can print when I connect the USB-cable directly to my laptop. The printserver is connected to the network, I reinstalled the N4000e software and it detected the printserver.
Still my print-jobs never make it to the printer and on paper.

Can you help?

  • dezwartenco Aug 19, 2008

I cleared all printjobs, removed all printer icons, rebooted, reinstalled the N4000e software and the printer-driver. Still no succes. Already upgraded the firmware.

The printer-server has its own webpage where you can get a lot of info. Everything there looks fine as far as I understand.

    Any more ideas?

    Thanks, Richard

Try this: make sure you do not have any pending printjobs (cancel all documents if there's one) then delete all printer icons. Reboot the computer then launch the printer server software to locate it. add that network printer & make it your default.

probability is that some of your applications are sending printjobs to the wrong queue (like the one for the USB connection).

Failed response from plugin device

Dirty fix...
When the printer errors out...stop, unplug the power to the printserver. Reset the printer, Clear the print que (delete jobs/restart print spooling service), restart the printserver software and plug the printserver power back in. Wait for the re-detect. Everthing should be good at this point. Unfortunatly the print job will be lost and you need to print again...BUT, NO REBOOT yea!!!
Note... for me, if this sequence is not followed, I will have to reboot. The printserver will be locked for the PC that was trying to print. All other PC's will be fine, and I have no idea why.
Good luck,
Bill

Lexmark 640 printers will not print after network security audit.

So you think the scan from the Auditors software jammed the port on the Printserver? Are your printservers PC's that spool the print jobs and then send them to the printer or are the printserver devices? How is you printserver connected to your printer? (ie parallel, USB, COM)

Edimax 6215 - Printserver doesn't work

if your usb light is not lit-there's a chance that your usb led is busted, usb cable is defective or printserver is defective itself.
if your going to connect your printer directly to your pc using the same usb cable and if it works that way. then it could be that your printserver is not working fine.

PSUS4 problem "talking" to Canon S330

Hi dreaddymck
I need a little more information on the setup. Is there a router in your network? If there is, is your PrintServer connected to the router and your computer is attempting to connect to the printserver through the router? If there is no router and your PrintServer is connected to your printer via the USB port and your computer is connected to one of the ports on the PrintServer via a cat5 cable, I would check to see whether you are actually communicating with the PrinterServer by pinging its IP address from the computer. If the ping is successful, then I would look at the printer properties in your computer's printer control panel and check the port configuration. Usually it is shows the IP address, port 9100 and port protocol is usually set to RAW. Otherwise I would attempt to reinstall the PrintServer using the CD originally provided. It appears to me that the server may not be publishing its IP address on your network.
