Usually there are several reasons why it happens the way it happened :
1) Someone is trying to gain access & lock your account.
2) A person tries to guess your password & ID by attempting more than 3 times or so.
But no worries, it's a normal security precaution which will eventually locked the account to prevent the unauthorized user from getting in successfully.
This lock down usually will last 24hours after the failed attempts made by the unauthorized user. Go to this main Yahoo! logging site & insert the correct ID & password of your account. The first attempt may prove failure, second attempts will lead you to the "word verification system" which is to make sure that you are not "bots". Follow all those procedures provided by Yahoo!.
48hours after visiting that Yahoo! main logging site, your account should return as normal.
**NOTE: Remember to clear out your ID every time signing out of any sites that preserve your personal informations such as Facebook, Yahoo! Messenger @ Mail & etc. to prevent them from being hack or so.

Sorry about the messy comment & links, there are 3 links, which are a), 1), & 2)...Highlight them & paste in the search browser. And meanwhile, in the Yahoo logging page, try "Sign In With Facebook" or google. Eventually when you do have facebook account or google, the process to sign in with them, will automatically signed you into Yahoo. Give it a try.
