SOURCE: Refrigerator has water dripping inside the unit down the back

The problem is the drain is clogged. Remove the back panel in your freezer and at the bottom of the evaporator coil you will see a hole about ½” in diameter this is the drain tube. You might need to use some warm water to melt the ice and then run a wire being very careful not to puncture the hose and run it down the tube to free up the drain. This tube travel down to the bottom of your refrigerator to a pan sometimes located on top of the compressor or somewhere else down there. It collects the water there to evaporate. You can enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com for a diagram or illustration of your refrigerator. Not all models are available.

SOURCE: WATER DRIPS DOWN FROM INSIDE TOP REFRIGERATOR BELOW FREEZER

Not an original solution - but a good one. Remove panels at the back of the freezer compartment to expose the heater unit or heater wire that defrosts the freezer coils and wrap a solid copper wire gently around the heater/ heater wire and place the loose end in the drain. This will conduct heat to the freezer drain and help keep it open. I did see a manufactured part in one of the appliance parts websites but it did not match my unit.

SOURCE: Kenmore elite - Water dripping from freezer to refrigerator

Your refrigerator has a defrost drain blockage behind the evaporator in your your freezer compartment. Some models like yours have leak in the turns as the water leaves the freezer. I recommend that you unplug and remove the cover to the evaporator and check the defrost condensate tray below the evaporator. A wet vacuum cleaner and poring a solution with clorox in the drain will help you clean locate the leak and where the blockage may be downline.. I do have the manual on yours and can help you solve this. Some times this is a factory defect and I can help you solve the freezing drain problem. Let me know, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Freezer door started dripping water when opened

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

In the fresh food compartment center overhead within about 6 inches of the front of the unit there is a circular hole. Inside that hole you will see a dial with 2 tabs on it. Use your thumb or a squared off utensil and rotate the tabbed dial slowly until you hear an audible "CLICK" The refrigerator should stop running and the defrost cycle begins.

After 45 minutes (+ or - 10 mins) the compressor should start again. Once the compressor starts, check both the evaporator fan in the freezer compartment and the condenser fan in the bottom rear of the unit to make sure they are turning at full speed.

If the compressor does NOT after 90 minutes re-start, rotate the defrost timer tabs of the dial in the overhead of the fresh food compartment until you hear it start again. The fact that the compressor did not start in under 90 minutes indicates a defrost circuit problem.

A slow running evaporator fan or condenser fan will cause poor cooling. Also in the back of the unit, check the right side of the condenser coils for lint / hair build up. If it is blocked the front outside chassis of the freezer section will be very warm almost hot to the touch. Clean as needed with a vacuum if you do find any lint buildup.

Once more thing is to check the ice maker. Quickly touch the bottom of the ice maker. If it is VERY hot to the touch then there is a problem with the ice maker itself and the mold heater can cause your freezer to warm up and overall unit performance to degrade.

A complete checkout of the ice maker can be found here: http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=12&newsdesk_id=34

Your parts can be found here:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=48360

Scrolling the left side of the page will access all sections of the unit.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kelly

It sounds as if you have an automatic defrost problem.

Water leaking onto floor from underneath unit, instead of into the water reservoir.

It's not unusual for a refrigerator to drip a little water on the floor after you replace the water filter-air trapped in the water dispenser system can make the water dispenser drip enough to overflow the drip tray below the dispenser. You can fix it by streaming a gallon or two of water through the dispenser to eliminate the trapped air.
If water drips on the floor from the back of the refrigerator, a leaking water inlet valve or cracked water system tubing could be the cause. A clogged or cracked defrost drain tube could also cause the leak. Defrost condensate water collects in the drain pan at the bottom of the refrigerator so a cracked or overflowing drain pan can also cause water to drip on the floor behind the refrigerator. Check the drain pan for cracks and clean out any foreign objects that may be inside the drain pan.
Excessive frost caused by a leaking door seal can also cause the defrost drain pan to overflow. Check the door gaskets and replace them if damaged.

How do i remove a drip pan from a kenmore refrigerator

The drip pan collects water when the freezer goes into a defrost cycle. Most times there is very little water and the water evaporates quickly. When there is a problem with the freezer or the water does not evaporate between defrost cycles, the drip pan fills with water. If the front bottom of your refrigerator has a grille, you access the drip pan from the front. If there is no grille, access the drip pan from the rear.

Instructions
Rear Access

1 Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall so that you can access the rear of the refrigerator.

2 Look under the refrigerator with a flashlight and locate the drip pan. Often when people install refrigerators they neglect to pull the packing from around the drip pan. The drip pan may have tape or styrofoam around it.

3 Remove any packing material away from the drip pan and pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

Front Access

4 Pull the grille at the bottom of the refrigerator below the refrigerator door with your fingers. The grille secures to the refrigerator with plastic clips.

5 Remove any debris from the access area and throw the debris in the trash. The coils and fan under the refrigerator attract dust and dirt. Clean out the area with a lint brush if you have one.

6 Pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

Kenmore 10677181791 water dripping into refrigerator from freezer

probably an ice buildup around the drain tube not allowing proper flow thru to the drain. Try defrosting fridge for a while so the entire ice mass defrosts in between fridge and freezer

Water is leaking from the bottom of the fridge. Why? It is destroying the wooden floor. Refrigerator is Whirlpool Model # ED25UEXHW01

Some water dripping under the refrigerator is normal. There is supposed to be a drip tray to collect it, and there is not so much that it can't evaporate. Check to see that the tray is still there, in the right place, and not cracked. If the drip tray is full of water, then you have another problem. If your air is humid, you would get more water during the defrost cycle and the water in the drip tray wouldn't evaporate very fast. If your freezer door seal is not air tight, you would get more water to defrost. My guess is, the drip tray is out of place or cracked.

I HAVE AN ED5PHEXNL side by side that i bought used. it does not have a water hose hooked up to it but there are sounds like water dripping? is this some defrost thing? And how do i remove the bottom black...

The sounds of refrigerant traveling through the lines can sound like water bubbling. The sound of the melted frost dripping on the defrost heater during the defrost cycle can cause a sizzling sound and the sound of defrost water traveling down the drain and into the drip tray beneath the refrigerator sounds like water dripping.

Pressure clips hold the kickplate in place. Pull straight toward you by firmly grasping both sides near the ends. Good Luck.

Samsung Fridge Freezer leaking water

hi August.
Cause: A blocked defrost drain is one of the most common causes of water leakage. This happens when food particles or other debris clogs up the drain hose, which can lead to ice buildup and, eventually, water leaking out of the freezer and refrigerator.
3 common refrigerator problems you can easily fix yourself

The freezer drain hose will drain the defrost water into a drip pan at the bottom of the freezer. When this pan becomes full, it will leak water onto the floor. This is a regular maintenance task whenever the freezer defrosts. Empty the drip pan during the defrost cycle.
How to Fix Water Leaking From the Bottom of Freezer

Why is my fridge leaking water on the floor? If the refrigerator is leaking water it's possible that the refrigerator has a clogged or freezing defrost drain. If the defrost drain freezes the defrost water will overflow the drain and drip down to the bottom of the compartment, If enough water accumulates in the bottom it can run out onto the floor.
