Laptop runs very slow asus

FIXING A SLOW COMPUTER

A slow computer could be caused by a number of things -
1. Insufficient RAM (memory) - if your computer has less than 512Mb of RAM then increase it to at least 1Gb of RAM.
2. Registry problems - clean and repair the registry, it will contain unused registry keys. Use programs such as Registry Mechanic, Microsoft RegClean etc.
3. Uninstall/remove unused programs, this will also free up hard disk space.
4. Not enough hard disk space - swap file space may need to be increased if Windows hasn't been configured to manage it.
5. Install latest Windows updates.
6. Update virus definition files and scan computer for viruses, Trojans, malware etc.
7. Clear the Internet cache for faster browsing.
8. Hard disk maintenance is required at least once a month to keep it functioning efficiently.
Run the following programs -
Disk Cleanup - removes temporary files that are no longer used and to recovers hard disk space.
Disk Defragmenter to make fragmented files into contiguous files and therefore the hard disk access is faster.

Sir my inspiron laptop b130, intel pentium processor 1.70 mhz 598 mhz, it is suitable for upgration r not? ram 1gb. 40 gb hard disk.? I need 2 gb ram and 500gb usb hard disk for oracle applications...

Max RAM for that system is 2GB
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Inspiron%20B130&Cat=RAM

The question is whether there are 500GB hdds for that system. The largest PATA HDD I found was 320 GB
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4600076&CatId=2675

and there is no guarantee the BIOS will recognise a HDD that large as PATA HDDs require BIOS support for the drive size where SATA HDDs will pretty much work.
My recommendation is to retire this system and BUY a new one.

I have a Western Digital WD20EADS 2TB hard disk, within a fantec MR-35US2 disk case, connected with a USB to my computer. The problem is the disk is performing to slow.

sometimes when a hard drive is performing to slow it is because there isn't enough Random Access Memory (RAM) in your tower or laptop all you have to do is upgrade the RAM to 1GB - 3GB is will ensure the hard drives performance will increase

details of what RAM looks like

I have 2 questions:- 1. I have a hard disk of 80GB capacity.I want to augment my storage capacity with an additional Hard Disk of 500GB in the second slot of my CPU.Will my motherboard support that.My...

The motherboard has 2 memory slots with each slot allowing up to 1GB modules of DDR PC2700, DDR PC3200, DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. Do not mix RAM speeds.

As for hard drives, the board has the capacity of:

PATA (Parallel) - 2 x ATA100 4 Dev. Max
SATA 1.5 Gb/s - 2

I would assume that the 500GB drive you have is a SATA drive. and the 80GB as PATA. If that is the case, then the two drives would be on different controllers and would work in the system. Typically, it is recommended that the SATA drives is the main hard drive holding your OS.

As always, you would need an open bay in your computer case as well as adequate power to the PWS to complete the installation.

Hp 530 laptop is very slow and freezes

Well, The problem can be caused by many many reasons such as outdated hardware, overload startup programs, corrupt registry issues, too many junks, virus attack, poor security software taking too much system resources, remnants of uninstalled applications etc. The fact is, you should keep some system maintenance job regularly. If you don't want to do these manually, try the hp speed up tool http://www.speeduphp.com/ to give a free & full scan of your slow HP PC to find & fix all possible issues.

Meanwhile, upgrading hardware configuration (add RAM, change a new video card, larger-volume HDD etc) can be a fast yet effective way to improve your pc performance. But that won't be the most economical way, as you know you can't always afford to do that.

I upgraded the memory from 1Gb to 2 Gb but my laptop's still slow

it can't be, check if the windows is reading 2gb from system under control panel.

to find out if your pc is fast, see if it plays a game faster than before or use a program faster than before
there is no diffrence in using windows itself. example i think in your mind you'd expect to click on my documents and it loads it super fast now with 2gb of ram? no, you're wrong weather you have 1gig or 2gig windows still works the same
the diffrence is Faster file transfer, faster applictions but not a faster windows.

it could also be the norton if you installed, it lowers your speed.

check Task manager, in the performance section
cpu usage should be under 10%
and pf under 500mb
