Possible cause:
1. Power adapter failure.
2. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:
First of all, test the power adapter. Make sure the adapter outputs correct voltage. It's possible that the output voltage is not correct and the laptop shuts down to prevent the damage. Test your laptop with another known good power adapter.
If the problem still exists, even after replacing the adapter, most likely it's the motherboard failure. Replace the motherboard.
With a voltmeter check the voltage output of the charger. It should be about 19 volts DC.
Sounds as though you have a bad battery......Unless you have a spare battery and charger on hand to swap and run a trial and error test then you should probably take it to a computer technician or battery retailer and have the battery, charger, and possibly the system tested for defects. Batteries and chargers are costly to purchase if they are not needed.
