How to use food grinder attachment

The mixer's planetary is not disconnected when the meat grinder is attached and continues to turn.

If the noise you hear only occurs when the grinder is in place, then the grinder may be assumed to be the cause. Consult the meat grinder's instructions and make sure that nothing is loose or overtightened.

I was using meat grinder attachment and stand mixer stopped running

I just got the same problem too. There was a little piece of fat in the meat and it stopped the grinder. I removed it but the attachment rotates a full turn and then stops. The same happens with other attachments even under practically no load.

Hi, the motor went slower and slower and now has stopped. We were using the meat grinder and we have only used this machine 9 times in the past two years. We are very upset customers and have 15 pounds...

If you remove the meat grinder, does the mixer still work? It could be that the meat grinder is jammed.

You might have also blown a breaker. Have you tried plugging a lamp or something else into the outlet to make sure it's still working?

The attachment for grinding meat on the front wont work ? mixing arm in bowl works fine ! why wont it engage?

Firstly I would check it is fully engaged. If it is, remove the food grinder and look into the hole. You should be able to see a square hole inside. Turn on the mixer, the square hole should spin, if it does not, one of the gears inside the head has most likely broken. To repair this you will need to take the head apart.

The other possibility is that I misread your problem and that the grinder is turning, but the meat wont go through the plates at the end. This is a common issue which happens if the blade is not put in the end of the grinder. The blade is shaped like a cross and cuts the meat when it reaches the end of the screw.

Black Residue on meat using Kitchenaid meat grinder attachment

This is a common issue with the Kitchenaid food grinder. The black residue is a product of the meat itself.

With Kitchenaid Food Grinder Attachments, it is recommended that the meat be partially frozen before grinding. This is to ensure a quality grind and to make sure the meat holds all its juices while grinding.

If any juices from the meat are leaked into the food grinder, the friction will cause a chemical reaction and turn the juice from the meat into a black substance.

My kitchenaid sausage maker does not stuff the sausage casings

This may be a problem with assembly of the Sausage Stuffer Attachment. Your Use and Care Guide for both the Food Grinder and Sausage Stuffer could illustrate the assembly for you in detail.

Also, it may take up to 4 minutes after meat is fed through the top of the Food Grinder for it to start stuff into the casings. The meat is fed into the Food Grinder, ground, and then pressure is built up behind this ground meat to push into casings.
