Machine runs, but no water is coming out into the bucket

  • Anonymous Jul 31, 2013

My unit is about 1.5 years old. Ran fine initially. Now,the fan runs, the compressor kicks in but, no water is colletcted. I cleaned the front filter and made sure the unit has plenty of clearance. I also elevated it to a counter top next to the kitchen sink. Still no extraction of moisture to the bucket. What's wrong with the unit?

There are several reasons this may be happening. The 2 primary reasons are the humidity extraction level is set to high. Lower it to 35% . The lower the setting, the more moisture/humidity is extracted from the air. The higher the setting, the less if any moisture/humidity will be extracted from the air.
On most humidifiers the fan runs almost constantly while in operation. The idea is to continually move the air around and when the unit senses a rise in humidity, above what you have it set on, the compressor will turn ON to extract that humidity.

The 2nd thing that causes the problem is a dirty of clogged intake air filter. Which is easily solved by removing and cleaning the filter. Which should be done at least every 2 weeks, while the dehumidifier is in operation.

I said there were 2 reasons. Actually, there is a 3rd. Not enough clear air space all around the dehumidifier. A minimum of 12" should be maintained during operation.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

When full bucket light comes on water is emptied and bucket put back in position. Fan will start and then the full bucket light comes back on beeps and shuts off.

You have to be sure bucket is replaced exactly where it should go or the bucket will hold the switch in, thinking it is full. If you have a floor drain close by,remove the bucket and set the dehumidifier over or next to drain so water will go down it,then you don't worry about bucket getting full.If it doesn't run with bucket off, maybe defective switch. unhook wires to the bucket switch and hook or tape together,if dehumidifier runs then switch is bad. UNPLUG FROM OUTLET BEFORE DOING THIS. IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ELECTRICITY GET QUALIFIED HELP!!

Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

If you are making water and it is just going all over the place then, the little spout coming off the bottom of the coil, that runs the water into the bucket is clogged with dirt and you just need to take a small toothpick or knife and work the dirt out of the spout...

What has happened is the the tubing that fills the bucket is clogged. To solve this, first turn the unit OFF & Unplug it. Then, remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder cavity. You will see either a drain hole or small tubing that drains the water into the bucket. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reinstall the bucket, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor it for any leakage.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers

Hi

You need to check that the bucket is clean and that the sensor for the water level in the bucket is clean.

An old toothbrush and some warm soapy water can sometimes achieve a great result.

Failing this you may need a new sensor, be careful and either draw or photo the old wiring route with your cell phone to make it easier to fit the new sensor

Hope this helps

Unit collects water but periodically continues running despite full bucket which is flush in unit, what could be causing this it doesn't happen everytime.

there is a floater switch on the machine over the bucket (and sometimes in it). the floater tells the machine that the bucket is full. if the floater is stuck, the machine will assume that the bucket is not yet full, and will continue to run. check that floater switch with the bucket out. you may need to press in the bucket switch so the machine thinks the bucket is in. then lift the floater and see if it stops running. if not, the switch is bad.
