I recovered lost photos with steps below
1. Take out the memory card from camera and connect the memory card to computer with a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
2. Download camera photo recovery software, recommended asoftech photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Asoftech-Photo-Recovery/126127714100611?sk=info
3. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.

First of all, do not write anything in to the memory card again. Then try this digital photo recovery software.
Do the following steps:
1: Connect your memory card to a PC.
2: Open the software can choose the memory card where your lost items located, and then scan it.
3: Recover the found files.

Quite simple.

also check to make sure your camera or memory card is well connected to the pc.

While taking pictures from card loaded on computer, we lost all photos. when new photos made with camera, not showing images

Are you sure the camera is not just saving pictures to its built-in memory? With no card in the camera, try to view the pictures on the camera screen. If they show up, then that's what is happening.

When you remove the card from the computer, do you use the "safely remove hardware" function? If you don't, the card can become corrupted enough that your camera no longer recognizes it.

Can't find pictures on SC card

Try transferring the pictures to your computer then erasing the copies on the sd card, then putting the pics back on the sd card from the computer and then of course back to the camera.

Write Protect error and I think all my pics dissapeared!

If you are using an SD card, it could be possible that the Write Protect tab (the yellow tab on the top right) is in the 'lock' position. Slide it back and try again. If this does not work, make sure you are using the card and not the internal memory to store images.

Canon SD1000 keeps erasing pictures

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st?keywords=card+reader&rs=172282&page=1&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Acard+reader&sort=price

Finally AFTER you've recovered your photos, consider formatting your card IN YOUR CAMERA (did you do this when you first got the card? if not, this is what eventually happens). Keep in mind formatting the card will also totally and permanently erase the card. Press menu, then select the tools menu, then scroll down to the selection stating your cards memory capacity and select it. Then follow the on-screen prompts for a "low-level" format. This should help prevent this from happening again in the future.
