I locked the damn thing before i went on holiday and when i came back i gave it to a mate, he locked it up, i have the data backed up so a full wipe would be okay, i have no manuals so my question is; how do i bypass security and wipe the device clean?

We ran a few of these at my old work. The same thing happened to two of them, one had cooked the motherboard and the other one was just full of grinding dust and oily build up around the circuits. Took a whole workday to strip it down and wipe everything off the circuit board terminals. But she kicked over first go after that, and went back to screaming its head off and giving me a headache. Perhaps a few cans of non-flammable terminal cleaner spray will help to speed it all up. Hope this helps mate.

May have been packed too tight, or something shifted as door was closing and became lodged in either the locking mechanism or the side supporting latched to the left and right lower edges of the door. Try applying some pressure to the outside of the door while turning the key. If you are trying to use the Key fob to open, the stuck position will not allow lock to disengage at all. If that does not work, have someone crawl inside and push while someone outside turns the key.
Silly question but, I need to ask, what is the temp. outside? There is also the very real possibility that, the door seal itself has been frozen to the painted mating surface along the jamb of the door. You would need to park in above freezing temp (full sun will work sometimes) if this does work, get some silicone sprayed on a rag (fairly wet) and wipe down the painted mating surface where the seal meets the jamb. Welcome to Fixya. The first thing - try battery pull. When device is on remove the battery, wait a minute and turn the battery back to the device.

If it won't help then wipe the device memory via the following steps:

1. Backup all sensitive data from usb-connected device via BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

2. Wipe the device memory.

3. Restore the data you saved on the step 1.

Unsaved data in any opened applications may be lost. Use the stylus to press and hold the Reset button, as shown on the next page.

That what happens when you format. BUT... you may be in luck, there are a few free recovery programs that should be able to recover your files.

the only solution to your problem is to hard reset your phone.. unfortunately it would wipe your datas stored on your phone.. to try resetting follow this steps..
Take out the battery for a minute and then put it back, then press the Left and Right soft keys (the ones that look like a dash above the call and hang up buttons) at the same time, hold, and softly push the Reset button on the left? side of the device. Keep holding the SoftKeys until a confirmation message appears or the device boots up differently.

If they are not Alloy wheels then take the wheel trims off and hit them with a hammer until they loosen. This happened to me on an old megane when i went away a few years back

You can just enter the wrong password 10 times and it resets.
