Got the Chamberlain Professional garage door opener model 41BD002-2 & have to hold down button to close it until it goes all the way down. Tried moving sensor with orange light & it still won't change. Any other suggestions?
Reinstalled opener at a new location- was working perfect b4. Now that I have reinstalled the problem is:
when I push the opener it very briefly attempts to close and then stops and makes 4 to 5 clicking noises and then stops. If I hold down the button it will close smoothly until I let go of the button and then it opens all of the way again and makes the same 4 to 5 clicking noises. Even if I hold it down until it closes all the way it wont stay down - it opens back up.
The problem is in the sensors at the bottom of the tracks. They both should have lights on them one orange, sending, and green, receiving. In almost all cases theres an indicator on each side to let you know that sensors are positively aligned. Check wiring.
The only other problem I have seen is if the opener has gotten damaged by a power surge or lightning. The safety sensor part of the computer board on the back can get damaged, and maybe a sensor or two but, everything else works ok.
Sounds like the gear drive is getting worn.
also make sure the track are free of any debris.
