If the high pitch sound comes from the bottom of the screen, then most likely the inverter is faulty.

I can't find the sound driver, but you should be able to either 'update' the driver from the device manager, or download all sound drivers from the following link, burn to CD, and let the computer update from that automatically... http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks
