Have orbit timer mod 57974 , 4 station with an a and b zone control. three of five units work fine. the other two wont activate the solenoids. i tested the solenoids and checked the fuses on the boxes as well as the outlets providing power to the units, and the back up AA batteries. the units both program and say they are working when activated in manual mode, yet they do not activate the solenoid ???

How to wire

First check the solenoids by performing a continuity test on all of them. For all the solenoids that test good, power each one with 24 volts to make sure that the plunger moves. Then go to the timer and initiate an ON cycle for, say, zone one. Go to the zone 1 connector on timer and check for presence of 24 volts ac. If not present try zone 2 for output. If nada then there is something wrong with the electronics of the timer.

Only one circuit works out of 4 circuits.

Which timer do you have?
Copy following link for link for sprinkler timer manuals for Orbit, Nelson, Melnor, etc

Add a comment wit brand & model number, and include if this is new timer, or timer worked before and stopped functioning.

I have an orbit 4 station indoor timer. I understand where the solenoid wires go but am a bit confused as to where th pump wires go. Are all the common wires connected to gether and then go into the timer...

Timer is not identified.
Orbit shows five different 4-station timers: Add a comment and say which timer is being used, and what voltage you are using and what wires you have.
http://www.orbitonline.com/support/guides/Manualsearch3.cfm?Brand=02&Type=Timers

Example below:
-Power to operate timer:
The example timer has power cord that plugs into outlet.
Other timers have low voltage transformer that plugs into outlet.

Connecting solenoids.
Each station or solenoid has two wires:
The common wires are connected together so that common connects to each solenoid, and the second wire connects to terminals 1 2 3 4 as shown.

How do I test a specific Orbit Watering station without turning on the whole system?

I have done this in a couple ways. With a digital timer you can select a zone on manual and turn only that zone on. with a mechanical timer, you can set the dial to that zone and increas the duration. You can "hot wire" the zone by moving the zone wire to connect to the low voltage wire input to the zone. You can take a transformer out to the ground box and with an extention cord "hot wire " the zone at the ground box.

Orbit sprinkler system

Have you programmed the new one with all the info for date and time? Did you set the zones for the days you want and watering times?
