Remove the bucket and remove the plastic cap on the bottom of the bucket. Then take the rubber insert out of the cap and save it. You will use it later. Using the hose that came with the unit, thread it through the cap opening and add the washer to the cap. Screw the cap to the mating connector on the bucket. Be sure to use the washer or the connection will leak. Now, thread the hose through the round hole and extend the hose to the back of the unit. And finally, replace the bucket in it's original position in the unit.

Check the coils at the back of the dehumidifier to see if there is any
frost buildup on it. If there is, turn off the machine for a while
until the room warms up and melts off the frost. The machine works by
condensing the moisture in the air over these coils, so if the coils
are frosted over, or are not cold enough, the moisture cannot condense.
If the coils are not cold enough, you may want to get it refilled with
refrigerant. You will need to take it in for servicing in this case.
Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions,
please feel free to post them here.

First ! you are trying to use this dehum in cold weather conditions. this time of the year there is little humidity in the air. best conditions for the dehum to work will be when the temp. is 65 degrees or high, and the humidity is 60% or higher. if you don't trust what I said then take it to sears to be checked out.
