How to cancel on hold? model nwz-A818 Hold button not on, fully charged, reset doesn't help.

Make sure that HOLD function isn't on.

Connect it to the computer and reset it again, leaving it connected.

Check the Sony Support Web site to see if there are any available firmware updates for your model.

If possible, instead of connecting the USB cable to the computer, connect it to a USB AC adapter (if available) and try to charge it.

If this is brand new return it the place of purchase, this is a serious manufacture issue.

I'm sorry that the Walkman Player is not turning ON normally and displaying "HOLD" message. The "HOLD" message indicates that the Walkman player is set to HOLD mode by sliding the HOLD button on the right side. Please make sure that the HOLD switch is not activated.

If the issue persists after moving it from HOLD position, please reset the Walkman player by pressing the reset button using a sharp pointed object. The reset button is located on the rear of the unit.

To turn the portable player ON, with the HOLD switch in the OFF position, press any button. To turn the portable player OFF, press and hold the OPTION/PWR OFF button. The player will enter the STANDBY mode and the screen will turn OFF to save battery power. If the standby mode continues for approximately one day or more, the player will automatically turn OFF completely.
If the Player still doesn't turn OFF, Reset the Player by pressing the RESET button on the Player using a Sharp pointed object for 3 seconds. The RESET button is located next to the STRAP hole. The RESET button is a small hole.

Sony NWZ-E344 has hold switch on right side, slid hold switch to cancel hold function.
Let me know if model number of mp3 player is different to provide you revised info.

did anyone ever get back to you on this? I'm having the same problems.

Press and hold the Back/Home button for several seconds - see if the Settings Menu appears. Go to Video Settings and turn off the On-Hold Display.

My sony NWZ-E436F wouldn't charge until i put the hold button on hold.(charge thru computer connection)After a few hours it was fully charge,Give it a try.
