SOURCE: deference Lacie d2 Quadra1TB/Lacie big disk ?

It's all about the interfaces.
The Quadra has four interfaces: • eSATA • FW 400 • FW 800 • USB 2.0
The triple has all but the eSATA interface listed above.
For doing video work you want a big drive with a fast interface. If you have eSATA available then that's the fastest. If you don't then you're just as well off to go with the triple interface. The FW 800 would be the next fastest, then the USB 2.0, then the FW 400.
Because of the way that data is transferred I believe that when doing video work you would be best served by the FW 400 instead of the USB 2.0 even though the USB is faster I don't believe it is a full duplex communication so the FW 400 is actually better for video.

The power supply light comes on,but when i plug it the light goes out.how do i fix this problem .ty

Hello,
when the green light on the power supply goes off or starts flashing when you plug it into the LaCie drive, there is a failure at the level of the internal electronic components. Either only on the interface, or on both the interface and one/both of the hard drive.
Usually, replacing the interface would solve this, but before doing so make sure that the internal hard drives electronic boards do not have any failure else they will cook your new interface. It is advised to consult someone skilled in electronics to inspect the internal components.

My Lacie 500 GB big disk constantly has the flashing blue light. The drive dose not spin all the time, when it does is constantly clicks but does not mount. I use an iMac and a MacBook Pro and neither will...

Hard drive is no good. If new replace under warranty. Given the bad luck you have had with this brand, you might consider replacing it with a different unit.

La cie hard drive mount issues

I had the same problem and surprisingly, after many attempts to get the drive to mount with different connections, etc., the problem turned out to be the power adapter. If you've got the same kind of adapter on another drive, switch it out and see if your drive shows up. Good luck.

Hard drive won't turn on

You could remove the drive if you can get the enclosure open and either install it in a new enclosure or as an additional HD inside your Pc. Good Luck.
