Yes. In your watch, as with most wristwatches that have a snap-fit case back, there's a thin neoprene gasket that sits either in a groove cast into the watch case or around the part of the case back that snaps into the watch case. Either way, the gasket is designed to further reduce the amount of moisture that can wick in between the tiny gap between the case back and the watch body.

As a matter of procedure, for maximum water resistance, this gasket is supposed to be changed every time the watch is opened (for example, when the battery is replaced). As a practical matter, however, I have often reused a gasket if it has not been distorted from pressure or mis-installation (lots of these gaskets end up crimped or pinched when they slip out of position as the case back is pressed into place). Does it provide reduced water resistance? Possibly, though moisture more often enters a watch fastest through the opening for the stem used to set the time. Leaving the back gasket out entirely, however, definitely creates an easy path for sweat and moisture to enter a watch.

How do I replace the battery, in a Casio G-Shock G-2300 9V watch?

Your watch is a solar powered watch and normally you don't need battery change .Nevertheless,if (as it is an old Casio model),you are convinced that battery is the cause of your problems, then replace.
1) You have to be absolutely sure that you are able to carry out the procedure.
2) IMPORTANT!! Pse note that the specific battery IS NOT an ordinary battery as it is rechargeable.DO NOT TRY TO REPLACE WITH AN ORDINARY ONE.RISK OF EXPLOSION on your wrist.+total damage of the watch.New battery has to be exactly the same with the old one (ID.code).Can be ordered on E-Bay,I suppose.
3)TOOLS:Watchmakers screw drivers + philips small size screw driver (for backcover screws) + watchmaker tweezers + 2 finger rubber gloves.
Turn the watch upside down and carefully remove the four screws (try not to loose them).Remove the strap if needed.Gently remove the back cover.Pay attention as there must be 1 or 2 tiny springs embeded on the mechanism.Keep them in place and try not to loose them. You have to remove the plastic cover (pay extreme caution to the spring/s) in order to have access to the battery.Unlatch and remove (if needed) the battery holder ( if can be removed-remember the position to put it back correctly).Take out the battery and check for possible leaks.Check the battery compartment cleaness.DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE FINGERTIPS THE CONTACTS OF THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT.DO NOT TOUCH THE NEW BATTERY ON BOTH SIDES WITH BARE FINGERTIPS.Use the finger gloves.Put the new battery in place (do not force) and secure back the battery lamina holder. There is a AC(All clear-reset) contact on the mechanism.Using the tweezers touch one end on this contact and the other to the metallic body of the mechanism.Lift the watch very carefully(as it is,upside down-without disturbing spring/s) and check if display is activated.By paying much caution put back the plastic cover correctly in position PAYING CAUTION TO THE SPRING/S. Clean up the back cover, gasket, and gasket furrow from dirt as good as possible.Check the gasket condition.Replace if needed.Apply a little amount of special gasket silicon compound all around the gasket, both sides.Put the gasket in place.Put back gently the back cover and screws in position.MAKE SURE TO POSITION THE BACK COVER CORRECTLY(in place and not upside down).Press it gently when in correct position before you screw.CHECK ALL AROUND FOR CORRECT CONTACT. DO NOT SCREW TOO TIGHT,DO NOT FORCE.Screw with fingertips until you meet resistance.
I hope this will help.

How do you change battery for casio 1174 CMD-40?

I like these little RC IR watches. They're great fun!!! For this tutorial, you will need....
  • A small Phillips heads screw driver
  • A pin (or needle)
  • A replacement CR2032 battery
Instructions :
  1. Remove the 4 screws from the back of the watch
  2. Carefully remove the back plate, do not damage the delicate rubber seal
  3. Carefully remove the delicate rubber seal
  4. Use the pin to remove the small rubber block from the battery cover clasp.
  5. The pin should then be inserted in the gap of the white plastic lug, where the rubber block was removed.
  6. Use the pin to gently pull back the clasp of the battery cover.
  7. The battery cover will then open with a 5mm gap approx. It does not need to be removed.
  8. Use the screwdriver to remove the battery.
  9. After the battery has been replaced, just follow the instructions backwards.
I hope this little tutorial has helped.

How to prevent water leaking inside, after replacing the batteries.. should i replace the gasket to? after replacing the batteries....

Normally gasket has not to be replaced after battery change. But all depends of the use.For example if you wear the watch in salt or pool water and never flash it with fresh, clean water after,it may be a cause of gasket wear.Remove the back cover.Replace all 4 batteries(be sure first that you can do this with extreme caution as all parts are tiny).Remove gasket.Check gasket condition(cracks, gasket too dry and hard). If gasket OK, apply a small amount of special silicon compound for watch gaskets, all around and to all sides of the gasket, put it back in place, carefully.Be sure that gasket is set correctly all around.Put the back cover in place and screw with much caution (not too tight-a little resistance).Your watch now normally is water resistant. But if you want to be 100% sure, take the watch to a serious repair center where it will be tested under pressure ( 3 Atm average). Then they will tell you if your watch is 100% water resistant.

How water resistent is watch??? Anyone with experience?? How about after battery replacement?

mcdevito 75 here, Usually 50--100 meters of water resistance on brand new watches. However after a battery change, unless you also change the gasket (rubber ring) on the cover, you could loose all water resistance capability.

How do you get the back off a men's armitron watch to change the battery? Took it to Walmart and they can't figure it out.

If you don't have a watch repair kit, a small flathead screwdriver or even a butter knife would work. Set the watch face down on a soft material (pillow/towel). Insert the flat tool in the gap between the back and the watch itself. Apply a bit a of pressure the loosen and remove the back. Remove the rubber gasket covering the battery. Then you will want to remove the clip covering the battery (with the flat tool). Once the clip is removed flip it upside down and let the battery fall out

Changing watch battery on oakley watch

It either sets into a small groove on the back of the watch or it simply goes on the back cover and seats against the back of the watch when you re-install the cover to form a gasket to water proof the watch
