Joe, There are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2. 1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If you have a manually controlled unit.set the knob on maximum.
2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed, allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate the unit without the filter.
3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.
4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.
5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures (Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to where the air
temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor, onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this problem.
If
none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the
compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are
5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it
can happen.
I really hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know.
you really need to advise what type of unit system you have ,majority have a dial underneath the unit that increases the tone ,it might also need a digital prompt that is by pressing a few digits this may enhance or decrease the incoming tone please refer to your manual . each unit has different settings. Best regards John
The main thing with this unit is to put the batteries in the transmitter first, then in the base receiving unit. Then you can't really make any setting changes until the unit figures out the correct time through the radio signals it receives from Colorado, or wherever they come from.
The air filter on this set is on the bottom of the light engine which means you have to remove the light engine form the set to access the filter, i have the guide right from panasonic service manual, no picture as the manual does not have one but here is the info: ###################################################### THE FILTER ON THE PROJECTION UNIT CAUTION: Operating with torn or damaged Air Filter may cause damage to the Projection unit. Remove the Projection Unit from rear. The filters are located on the bottom and in new engine designed the front of the engine. clean the filters onthe Projection Unit. Gently remove any accumulated dust from filter with a vacuum cleaner; use extreme care so as not to damage or tear the filters. ############################################################
The engine is a little tricky to get out you really need to be sure each connector removed is inserted and no cable has stress on it when it is being removed, there are no photos of the process just a tech jargon from the service manual.
I assume this is a heat pump. The outside unit may be icing up. It should have a defrost cycle with electronic control that sometimes fails or sensor associated with the electronic determination of when to defrost may have failed or may not be sensing because its out of position. You can check for a defrost problem. If frost is blocking the outside unit air will not pass through it after the frost builds up and you may be able to see the white frost as well. If all this is true you need to get a service manual and use its procedures to find out why the unit is not defrosting.
I had the same problem and called Sony, they just said to keep trying what the manual says to do, but make sure the unit is in standby mode. I tried in powered mode and in standby mode many times and it did not work. Then I tried again the next day when the unit had been in standby mode for an extended time period. I hit the four buttons like the manual said, all four in quick succession. I also tried the four buttons in many different sequences from what the manual said. When I powered back up the lamp timer was set to zero, finally! I think having the unit in standby for an extended time was the key. The Sony rep really emphasized the need for the unit to be in standby.
