Is there a way at least Mac recognizes VN-3100PC?
Unfortunately the VN-3100PC is not compatible to a MAC operating system. The device needs drivers in order to be detected by the computer and we do not have any MAC compliant drivers for the device. It was designed to work in a Windows environment only.

Olympus VN-3100PC drivers for Vista x64
Unfortunately there is no way to make this recorder compatible to Vista 64 bit operating system. You may want to call Olympus customer service and see if they can do an exchange to a VN-3200PC or a VN-5200PC as these recorders are both compatible to that operating system. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.
