Our TV is a 2006 Sony Bravia rear projection model. When we try to turn it on, the TV seems to want to turn on, the power light turns green, then immdediately shuts off, and the power light starts to blink red. My husband said that when he picked it up from the family we bought it from, there wasn't anything wrong with it. Nothing wrong with the picture or sound.

does the lamp fan stay on? you can see thru the back if the fan is running. If it is not running you need to replace it.
If it running you may need a new lamp driver/ballast part# 1-480-180-21 https://www.encompassparts.com/model/SONKDF46E3000/_/_/Sony/KDF46E3000/

then there is the possibility the new lamp is bad,, Sony's like Sony OEM lamps

Try to replace Lamp part number XL-2200U / XL-2200 but since screen getting darker you may have problem with Optical Block very expensive repair

Strange situation, have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes and letting the TV cool. I have a older 2006 Sony SXRD rear projection and it takes forever to turn back on if you shut it off then turn it back on. Check this link and maybe its giving you a blinking code. Try counting the number of blinks. Hope this helps.

Hi it sounds like it could be an issue with board that powers the lamp ,it's called the ballast.When you put a new lamp in the ballast has to provide more power ,when it starts to go weak it will not light up.Sometimes you can put your old lamp in and will work fine.Try partstore.com they might have it right there.Hvae a blessed one!
