The camera still works but when its dark in the room nothing shows on the monitor. If we turn the light on it works. It seems like the night vision feature is broken. I covered what looked like the light indicator while the lights were on and the camera never went dark nor did it switch to night vision mode. When the lights are out if i turn a flashlight on I can see it on the camers

I just had the same issue with 2 of my cameras, no night vision. Here's what I found after a little troubleshooting, in case this helps anyone. I used the diode check option on my volt meter to check each of the IR LEDs. Most measured around 1 volt but two were bad and didn't measure anything. I took two good LEDs from my other camera and replaced the bad ones. Fixed! I plan on buying a few more IR LEDs to fix the second camera. You can view the LEDs through your digital camera or cell camera to see if they are working. Hope this helps.

1. It should go to automatic night vision. If this feature is not working then the answer to will a flashlight work the answer is not very well. The light will have to be on the child and a flashlight does not have much light behind it. Perhaps if you put a small lamp on a dresser that shines on the area the child is, this may work enough to keep an eye on him/her. A flashlight not so much. Hope this helps.
