LG Super Multi Blue Burner Logo
Anonymous Posted on May 23, 2011

I have last week just got and installed a LG BH10 BluRay rewriter. It does read BD and DVD discs okay. It does burn BD25 blank discs though I have to use Imgburn as DVDFab does not seem to think there is a disc in it ready to burn when I use BLuRay copy utility. However there is no way I can burn a normal DVD5 blank disc. It just locks Nero Rom burn program and indeed also will not burn using Imgburn or the standard Windows burning utility either. What is more when trying DVD burning with Nero it locks up the program and I unable to close Nero even with Task Manager AND what is more the computer just gets stuck showing the Shutdown window when I close it down and I have to hard switch off and this is ONLY if I have tried burning a DVD in Nero to the BH10???. Have burned a few good BD25 discs now which play well in my Samsung BluRay player and had no problem only with DVDFab as mentioned above. BTW I also have an Asus DVD rewriter which is also SATA and that burns DVD's fine with Nero or anything else. I use Data Max DVD's or Ohayo which are both better quality cheap end blank DVD's adn not crappy Princo real cheap discs. Thanks for any help you can give as this is so annoying. SUre maybe it is just the BH10 is fussier with what make of DVD blanks you use or maybe it is a known problem you are aware of.

Hi raywalton826
I think you could try using Verbatim or Sony blanks and use DVD Identifier from http://download.cnet.com/DVD-Identifier/3000-2646_4-50766.html , just to make sure you
haven' t been sold crappy stuff .
I also would get in touch with DVDFab to expose my issue with my device and their product .
DVDFab 's guys are extremely client friendly at http://forum.dvdfab.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3
Best regards,
fanaudi .

Thanks for the reply Fanuadi Yes I already wondered about the DVD blanks I use but they do work fine with all my normal DVD players and are certainly not the real cheapos. What I suspect then is that maybe these BluRay rewriters are more sensitive to the media used.

Yes looked at the DVDFab site but no answer to this problem which I suspect is related to the DVD burning problem. Certainly seem a bit finicky these BluRay units.

Hi again raywalton826 . Thanks for the feed back ! Please be patient with DVDFab , i' m pretty sure you'll get an answer in the 24 hours and they are professionals as much in BluRay as in DVD . You need to use the latest up dated products .
Now , facing the other issues with your BluRay unit related in the second part of your original question , there is a compatibility problem between your computer and the drive , for sure . If only you could have the last one tested on another computer would be of a great help . Good luck ! Best regards . fanaudi .

Will the lg bd-390 play burned dvd-or+r,s or rw-dvd's?

The LG BD390 should read DVD+/-r if they are finalized. he same is true of DVD-rw discs. However, a lot depends on the burner and software you use for the burn. This unit will only support video mode, VR mode and AVHCD formats. It will also support DVD+R DL discs.

A lot depends on the movie and audio file codecs that you use to burn the disc. For a complete list of discs that are supported, see the manual. It's available here: http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-BD390# .

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the software and hardware that you are using to convert and burn your video for additional help.

I have installed a blue ray writer into mu desktop pc an windows can;t read blueray disks

Hi

You don't say which version of windows you're using or whether the bluray disks you are testing are factory made or created by you.

Playing back any video recorded on media like CDs DVDs or Blu Ray discs requires a video decoder (a program such as PowerDVD or Win DVD). Windows alone cannot do the job.

Burning Bluray disks requires both special blu ray discs and burning software such as Nero. Windows alone cannot do the job

Your Sony Bluray RW should have come with (a) CD(s) to install the Blu ray versions of a Video Decoder and burning softwares and also possibly some Sony programs too.

Install these and then you should be able to watch and burn bluray discs to your heart's content.

Hope this helps.

Panasonic uj141el not reading blank bd disks

Bluray discs and DVD discs are encoded differently. Unfortunately you will need to get standard DVD and not bluray.

You have 2 options really...

1) You can purchase blank DVDs:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=r%2Fw+dvd&x=0&y=0

2) You can purchase a bluray drive:

Nero cannot burn DVD inserted in my LG GSA-H55N DVD-RAM rewriter

Have you tried other discs, or just that one? It might be that the disc you've inserted already has something written on it, and you can't burn a DVD-R twice. From the error message you're getting, that would be my guess.

LG LS50 DVD/CD-RW DRIVE won't recognize blank dvd-r

Yes does not read DVD-R because if your LS50 Labeled like this (DVD/CD-RW) means that can read only all DVD Disc and cannot write on DVD blank only CD blank.

You can burn only on the blank CD-RW or any blank CD.
