In order to determine the manufacture date you need the serial number not the model number.
The first letter represents the year and the second letter represents the month. These will be the 9th and 10th characters in the serial number respectively.

8 years old, huh? In my experience, once faulty, may keep on doing so even after fix. So if it were me & I could afford it, I would get a new one with a warranty.
base on your problem, and other like what you say they changed the seal gasket of the door to avoid the water from spilling or leaking on the front door.
Remove the front panel from the washer. Fill the tub with water and then set it for spin.
Look for water coming from the machine. If so, report back as to where the water is coming from.
If no water is coming from the machine......
While the water is pumping out, look at the drain line in the wall and see if it backs up.
If so, call a plumber to clean your drain lines.
Check the particle filter screen in the hot water hose. It is located in either end of the hose, or sometimes just inside the inlet on the solenoid. In my experience this has been the culprit over 60% of the time.

I was working on a 1989 kenmore washer today and had a similiar issue. It is gross to find what causes this or maybe a long cycle w/o enough soap to hold the dirt causes the problem. The first issue was a 20 year accumulation of soap, dirt and oil plus the years turn it black on top and very oily.After one use everyone hates washer magic for not instantly curing the years of build up. It is not your fault, you don't see it and no one has told you,.. till now. This stuff will reside in the back bottom of your maytag and be 2 inches thick, ohh yeh. A good cleaner will take strategy and months of preventive work to reverse the build up. Like your veins good meds will take a while to work or if youre me I would pull the boot spring, front panel and remove the front of the tub and hose it out.

contact maytag at 1-800-688-9900 and ask whats going on and you need your machine fixed while it is under warranty, it is only covered for a year.
they may refer you to a whirlpool number but whirlpool now ownes matag so this is ok
