I would for sure look at the security settings, you more than likely saved the profile from the hotel that may be configured as for example wpa and your home may be wep.... check your security settings to make sure you have the correct configurations, also I would go into your wireless settings and delete the hotels wireless profile. You will be able to see the security being used when you look at the network list that shows your ssid signal at home. please feel free to respond with any questions... I hope this helps and good luck. :)

In hotel and trying to connect to ATT WiFi. Firewall or other mechanism blocking connection.

Some hotels offer their customers free wifi. Many have it, but charge for it. Almost all have password protection to avoid the risks of being an open hot spot. If you contact the hotel desk, they should provide the wifi password if it is indeed free or explain what you need to do to gain access to the network otherwise.

How do I Get Wi-Fi on my iPod Touch if it Says No Wi-Fi

One of the most useful features of the iPod Touch is the ability to use the Internet through a WiFi connection if you have a wireless home network and within range of your router, you can access the Internet via your iPod with ease. If you're in public, you can use the free wireless internet businesses such as hotels, cafes and airports. If you are not in a Wi-Fi zone, will warn you that your iPod will not be able to get online. When this happens, then you need to move to an area that has Wi-Fi

1. Confirm your wireless connection is configured correctly by checking if you can get online on your home computer. In urban areas, Wi-Fi is available in many businesses and families. Press the "Settings" icon on your iPod, click on "Wi-Fi" to search for available networks in the area. If no network can see, you're in an area where there is Wi-Fi available.

3. Click the name of an available Wi-Fi network and enter the correct password. Sometimes you may not be able to access the network, because you do not have the password. What does network key mean

The Network Key is the password used to log on to a network (Usually WiFi). If at home, this information is usually located on the router itself (a sticker on the bottom). If it is not at home (like a hotel, or other public WiFi) ask whatever customer service is available for the password.

I can not access Facebook abroad

Hi, Facebook should be as available abroad just as it is at home anywhere that has WiFi such as hotels, Macdonalds etc. without the need to modify anything. A family member has recently returned from France and assured me there were no problems.

How do I get my net book to use wifi? I usually connect to broadband and want to use wifi in my hotel? It does not show any available networks. Do I have my security settings too high, or do I just need to...

First of all you may want to decide to check out if the wifi connection is disabled or enabled.
If you go to system settings, in the network area you should be able to see if the wifi card is enabled. If is not enabled you may want to right click on the wifi icon connection and click on enable.
If this was the issue you know should be able to see and display all available networks in your area

The problem is I do not know about using wifi.I mean whats the use of a laptop if you can't transport it

You can transport a laptop and use it anywhere you want, but for reliable internet access when away from home then you will need to find public wifi. This comes in the form of either free public hotspots, such as at McDonalds and Starbucks, or secured wifi which is provided along with another service, such as at a hotel. In order to use any of these services, you need to have a wifi enabled laptop and the correct credentials to connect to the network. For free hotspots such as McDonalds, you don't need any other details other than to select the correct network from the list of available networks and connect. For hotel wifi and the like, you will most likely need a password or key to access the wifi, which is usually provided to you upon request.

Don't forget that laptops existed long before wifi, and that browsing the internet and reading emails isn't the only thing computers were built for!

How to connect to a wireless network wi-fi?

There are two sides to the WIFI connection. Your computer's adapter and "client" and the location's router and SSID.

Senario 1: You are in a hotel. The computer pops up and says there are wireless networks available. You click on the pop up and it shows a list of sometimes funny name WIFI networks. Let's say you are in a BestWestern Hotel and the list shows bestwestern in the list. You click on the name bestwestern. At this point you will be asked or told on screen that you have to enter a Security key. You call down to the front desk and get the login information. Once entered, you are connected to that WIFI network. In most hotels, you need to then start an Internet Browser screen and agree to use their network.
Senario 2: You are at a friend's house. You turn on your computer and it pops up there are wireless networks available. All of the names are odd sounding and none of them are familiar. One of those networks shows a very strong signal. This network is probably your friends SSID. You can verify this with your friend. At the same time find out what the security key is for the network. Then click on the network name, enter the key and you will have connectivity to the Internet.

Some networks have access lists, where you can connect to the WIFI, but, if your computer is not listed in the router at the location, youstill have no access. This will require the owner of the network to add you PC information to the router to give you access.

Hi folks, I have Sitecom wifi in my home - works a treat with my pc. It used to work with my Toshiba laptop. Then I stayed in an hotel in France, fiddled around successfully to get wifi in the hotel, and...

Click on Start > Right Click on "Network" and choose "Properties".
Click on "Connect to a Network" about in the middle of the screen under Wireless networks are available.
Find your router's SSID in the list and Right Click on it and choose "Properties".
Change the Encryption type to whatever your router is set up as. Example: Choose WEP and type in the 64 or 128 bit key that matches to your router.

If you are unsure what security options are set up on your router, please refer to your routers documentation on how to retrieve or change that information.

My wireless laptop gateway won't connect to my router again after going out of town using it at hotel and now it wont connect at home. it will connect on my job with no problem

Hi!

It is possible that the wifi networking where you connect in the Hotel use the same name of you home wifi network!

Try deleting your wifi profiles and reconnect again.

If you don't know how to delete the wifi profiles let me know and I tell you.

Thanks!
