you can try resetting your phone through codes. its the safe way to reset your phone. because when you reset your phone through software or hardware there are possibilities for data getting corrupted or lost. but there is no such possibilities when you reset through codes. thats y i prefer this method to reset my phone. i got the codes from this site Classicunlocking.com to reset my phone. try it

While my phone if power ON. Press the *7780# code, this code is usually used for the N60 series phone but this code is not working for nokia 5310. And I tried also another procedure again by doing this process:
Your phone must be power off, press the "*" + "3? + "green call key" but nothings happen again I haven't format my phone.
What should I do for this phone, this is able to recognize in the computer and cannot format to hard boot formatting.
My last choice is to find a flash utility cable suits in my phone and the software to re-program it and putting some IMEI codes.
Type *#06# at the mobile screen to know IMEI no of your mobile.
